Any Evans shop should have the Jamis Di2 (Ultegra) in any size for you to try out.
-
• #72103
I should try out Di2 soon. May be an expensive mistake :/

If you can get a bike that have Di2 on it already, it may be cheaper.
Jamis at our is roughly £1500 on trade, and it's full carbon.
IMO, I would sell the frame and put the Di2 on a frame I like.

You guys get crazy good trade prices! How good is Jamis carbon though? I'd probably sell the frame and keep the group for something like a TCR advanced or totally the other direction: a steel Di2 ready.
I'll see if I can pop in to an Evans soon to try one out. I mean trying one will be expensive as I'll probably fall in love. I want to buy a CX/MTB next though so it'd be a long-term want.
PS: I start working at Kensington today. Wondering what their customers are like!

Do you have one in Wimbledon Ed? Can I fit my own pedals and take it for a couple of hours?
-

Apparently have promising review, so far felt great on the road and reasonably comfortable, 15 minutes of riding isn't enough to get a good overall feel.
-
• #72108
Yep, in the shop windows.
-
• #72109
and you have a 56 TT?
-
• #72110
Possibly, I haven't been in yet.

Ed, do evans take the full amount as deposit, or just a percentage when you arrange a test ride?
-
• #72112
I think they take CC details, and a nominal amount (10p?), and possibly/presumably some form of ID
-
• #72113
Perfect cheers, apparently cycle surgery take the whole amount
-
• #72114
Laner, just sent a message to the chat. They charge you a refundable 50 quid to get a bike in from the warehouse if they don't have it. Otherwise they just take a nominal amount, as stated above, keep your bank card behind the desk and also keep your driver's license. IIRC.

Someone tell me this is worth the money
No .. Shimano pricing their (very late to market) carbon crank like a boutique brand and pretending it's something special .. the chainset on its own comes in at 609g + 100g for BB. All Shimano really want to do is sell Aluminium parts because of the heavy investment in tooling / research Shimano have made in production of that material at the cheapest cost possible.

Second to Jack's respond, it's 1p, not 10p.
The reason why is because they can't do a 0p transaction.

Laner are you going tubular or clincher with the Look?
-
• #72118
do you get the penny back?
-
• #72119
I'm going to get clinchers as I'm a wuss. Don't think i'd feel happy doing a long tide on tubs, so there's no point.
Evans Spitalfields have a di2 jamis in my size so will probably test it after work

So the 595 isn't for sale then...? Damn.

Ah ok.
Was going to link you to something that would've be interesting for the build. I'll save it all for me :) -

Feel free to help me change my mind :)

• #72123
Wait what? Have Tubs made a comeback on modern machines?
How's that work?

I can think of two thing; will you use the LOOK in London? or purely for riding outside London?
I somewhat doubt puncture is that likely outside in the home countries, IMHO of course.
-
• #72125
Punctures are less likely on tubulars in any event... Slightly bitchier to fix though.
Do the specialised ones allow you to switch between compact and road double? If so then that sounds like a useful option.
Other than that surly it's only really aesthetics as both are meant to be light and stiff no?
