^ Its had ally bolts where possible and lighter where not, also has a fair amount of metal removed drillium style by Oswald, as you can see better in this pic -

I'd be interested in what the wheelset comes out at, have you got a suitable means of weighing them?
Unfortunately no, I don't. I can only go by manufacturers claimed weights, which is hit and miss at best.
408g Both hubs
770g Both rims
318g + 10% for extra 30mm - 64 x DT Swiss Super Comp spokes
21g - 64 x DT Swiss 1.8mm alu nipplesEquals roughly 1548g, but would likewise really like to weigh it properly.
But you also have to take into account the fact that these are tubeless ready wheels, so when Hutchinson finally release the 28mm Intensive Tubeless that they said they were releasing this autumn just gone, these will be seriously tidy wheels. -

For CX wheels, I'd definitely take the extra few grams for brass nipples.

Well these were kind of an experiment to see what worked and how well.
The front wheel is laced 3 cross disc side but 2 cross drive side, while the rear is 3 cross both sides.
I was looking at the A2Z lightweight hubs as possibles as well, but thought the Novatec might last longer.
Also my first attempt at building wheels with anything other than 2.0-1.8-2.0 spokes, as these are 2.0-1.7-1.8.
So will be interesting to see how well I get on with them. -

Also, I'm really not gonna be using this for any CX racing or anything, tow paths and the odd bridle path is about the hardest its gonna get, but will keep an eye on the nipples nonetheless, thanks Tester.

Are ZTR Iron Crosses 23mm wide?
-
• #70634
So yes, internal width 20mm, external 23.3mm.

Is there anything equivalent (black 23mm wide disc rims) in 24h? Wanna build one to a chub for hipster purposes.
-
• #70636
It's annoying though, as so far I think only Bontrager are producing a 25mm tubeless tyre, sure the current Hutchinson Intensive Tubeless says its 25mm, but when I ordered one, it was closer to 22mm!
The 28mm version should be a reasonably robust tyre with a bit of puncture resistance and a hard wearing tread, more grip than a very grippy thing, and very comfortable for everyday riding.

Erm, I think they do make a 24h version, I've definitely seen 28h... 24h ZTR Iron Cross

Just changed from Giro D'Italia back to Campione del Mondo bars, changing my hoods position from this:
To this:
Perhaps not so good aesthetically, but much more comfortable so what the hey.
I've also struggled to fit the Raceblades, at least at the front, without it rubbing. Should it be possible to flip the cable stops upside down to give a bit more clearance under the downtube without too much interference? And am I right in thinking it would be impossible without derailleur re-cabling, which I hate?

What has been modified? I assume carbon inner cage and bolt tuning, but my Force has that plus lighter/ceramic pulleys and it's still 161g. Not that weight is the be-all and end-all of RDs, I'm swapping mine for an X0-DH (~200g) when I can afford it.
X0-DH up to 28T, X0-med up to 36T?

DH, plus the new XG1090CX 12-27 cassette is the plan. With the shorter cable, it should be 5-10g heavier overall than the tuned Force RD + 12-25 CS-7800 cassette I have at the moment, but with a slightly lower bottom gear and better colour matching to the rest of the bike.

Any reason that this would not work with my 11-32 and Apex shifters?
-
• #70644
Sram 10 speed mountain and road Exact Actuation cable pull is the same so it should work .. Incidentally I've got a feeling the Mount Washington hill climb 2010 was won on a Cervelo using XX and a mountain cassette to give a sub 1:1 gear.

Is there a KMC S10 SL chain?
Dammit, think you recommended it.
I can only find a KMC X10 SL, the one you were referring to?
-
• #70647
KMC X10 SL is the one Dammit recommended .. or the X 11 SL which is slightly lighter as it is slightly narrower but is really an 11speed chain.
Best price I've found for X10SL is Merlin Cycles or Total Cycling EBay outlet

KMC S10 is a stainless steel BMX chain
KMC X10(E|S)?L is a series of three different 10-speed dérailleur chains in varying degrees of "more money for less metal" -

It will work, but new X9 is only £50 and just ½oz. heavier in medium cage. X0 mediumcage black is in the January sale at £109. Either seems better value than
£80£83 for a second hand X0Ah, thanks for pointing that out.
Now the question is whether the X9 or X0 would shift noticeably better than the Apex mech I currently have.
