  • my god, it is so beautiful...

  • Bloody tease.

  • oh it is special.

  • This guy's got thousands of decals:

    Nice one!

Have just emailed them and looking forward to seeing what we can do.

    Cheers for that mate.

  • Hello veLLo (sorry couldn't resist!), like the idea, especially as I want a CX bike and have no funds neither.
Also interestingly, some CX bikes are using slacker geometry closer to MTBs anyway.
Also, dunno if it'll help, but have you tried good old V brakes?
***They have larger vertical adjustment for pads. ***

    -- v brake photo here --

Hehe! We should make a poor's man XC bike club!

I don't have V brakes to hand to check, but I doubt it would work as the distance is massive (and looks at least 1.5 longer than what you show on the photo)... Will measure and keep in mind for next time I see V-brakes, or will report here for someone to tell me if it would reach... Thanks for your contribution!

  • Heres my new Look KG 381i, cause I need another Look....

Gonna build it up with Campag 10 speed, Record and Chorus

Have this set knocking around so measured them up, its about 39mm from center of bolt to end of pad mount, and its possible to file out another 2-3mm more if needed on this old pair of Shimano Vs.

  • Got some new stuff today, it's getting hella functional up in my crib

Winebox needs to be waxed/oiled to waterproof it, as well as drainage hole and I need to sort out some form of mounting. The rack is bloody brilliant it takes my full sized panniers too.

I think I've picked a good wine box; place looks classy:

Spotter, whats the weight like one your new shiny rack?

Its the Soma one isn't it?

One thing I'm finding out with trying to build a viable one, is that its heavy and that there was a reason for choosing minimal steel tubing in a headwind instead of plate!

    Does look good too.

  • It is the soma one correct, weight is pretty light. My scales are somewhere in the workshop so I can't tell you exactly off hand sorry. I'll find out tomorrow, hopefully I'll be able to get it on the monark this week before so I can use it next week, if not it'll go to my Raleigh

  • I'm afraid I might have to stop playing around with alu plate and get me one of those too.

    Whats your impression of it?

What did it set you back?

  • My impression is well made with nice little features, like being able to put panniers on it, comes with all the fittings you might need and spares. It was £100 delivered from velodrama. I will give a better review once i've used it.

  • Just make sure you mount the winebox securely and with some kind of vibration dampening - tried it myself and ended up with a winebox-shaped loudspeaker for road noise (went deaf going over cobblestones).

  • Lol!

  • ah top tip cheers. I don't plan on using it all the time, so i will make some king of reasonably quick realise system. I'll probably run two bungie cords under the box to strap stuff down so they might be reasonably effective at dampening

  • Omniums for the GT.

Does this mean I need new wheels?

  • In the end I never put it back on as it also made the bike handle really slowly. Plus my groceries would rattle themselves to pieces on the way home (lived in the one part of Leipzig where the cobblestones must not have been repaired after the allied bombings).

What were your old cranks, are they for sale?

  • Stronglight track 2000 cranks

  • lions get some mavics

  • wheels?

  • yerp

  • picked this up from work today £480 for the lot

  • Tidy.

Pity about the wheels, but nothing that a sharpie or tape can't sort! ;P

Just how tall are you Maddy?!
