As I can't afford the Atomic 22 bolts and shit, have used a slightly less conventional method of squirting No Nails fixing and sealant agent into my hex bolt tops.
As I'm pretty happy of current set up and if needs be can get it out, just takes a while, I'm hoping this means my stem, bars, and forks are relatively safe.
Saddle and post are (hopefully) secured by an unused chain.
Frame and wheels secured by fuck off big chain and padlock and it'll be a pig to remove the chainset with rear wheel chained.
Hoping this will at least help persuade thieving fuck wits that it ain't worth the hassle.

Saddle and post are (hopefully) secured by a series of thin metal plates.
If you mean bike chain, they're ridiculously easy to cut through.

how do you mean? Surely you'd just have to loosen the wheelnuts to get some slack in the chain then use a crank extractor to nick the chainset...
never heard of anyone having their chainset nicked though

^i had my dura ace cranks and bb nicked off my bike a few years back

Hmmm, this is true, but if its a properly tooled up and determined thief, then not much will stop him.
Its all about putting as many deterrents in the way as possible so they decide to nick something else thats quicker and easier.how do you mean? Surely you'd just have to loosen the wheelnuts to get some slack in the chain then use a crank extractor to nick the chainset...

Nope, my chain is an HKK Vertex njs chain with bolt up link that fits perfectly to leave only 1-2mm, so not much slack to get!
Besides, I'd like to see the man who can get those cranks out in a hurry. -

I love the idea of dual crown forks for, what, 100mm of travel.
I used to have those forks years ago.. They were total balls.

Hello guys :) First project and first post.
Its a 92-94 model peugeot. Its basically done, except i might try a lighter gear-ratio. 50:14 is a bit heavy... And I also might change the sadle.

It's not "a bit" heavy, it's "oh god, I have to climb that hill on clerkenwell road?" heavy.
Get a 20t cog.

Agree with Ed on this one, thats a fecking silly high gear.
But the rest of your bike looks very nicely put together.

get a 19t cog, more skid patches if you're that way inclined.

Stick superglue and ball bearings in the allen key hole for the seat post and seat. Or use small nuts inside in place of ball bearings.

Can you get a 14t freewheel for normal hubs?

Don't know if i'm going to get shot for asking this but my Girlfriend is wanting a quick release wicker basket for her bike. Anyone had any experience of these and could say if they're any good or not ? Don't want to put something on that's going to fall off.
My friends mum got one and i was told it wobbled constantly and fell off twice after hitting a bump (guessing a speed bump or pot hole)
least secure thing on a bike i ever seen, i ended up ziptieing it to secure it a bit more, but still got great.

Yep, if you go for a bmx one i guess, I think Odyssey even do a 13t

^^I had a pub bike once that had one,
It was attached to the bars with leather straps and just hung there (i.e. no frame or rack) - reasonably quick release - and pretty stable too
Eventually the basket decomposed which was a shame as I'd grown quite attached to it.
Sadly the bike was stolen from outside my house when I was too inebriated to twiddle the combination lock. It was a wicked bike and had a chrome headlamp that was about 6" in diameter -

Would be nice, but the lever angles the hose away from the bar so it'd be just as tortuous a route but with the added obstruction of vision. On the other hand, barspins.
Maybe I should get a Hope system so it can exit the lever at a rightangle. Hydro FT-FBO-W
