Sorry, I couldn't point to Norwich on a map, was just going by what Stu had said.
From what I've experienced the centre of Norwich is on a very steep hill but the surrounding area is pretty flat.
On the drive into Norwich from the South, saw lots of MTBers going in and out of wooded areas along the road, looks like it might be good for off-road fixed riding - something I've always wanted to try. Could it be Thetford Forest I saw?

Couple of Q's:
Want these tyres: http://www.wiggle.co.uk/vittoria-randonneur-pro-road-folding-city-tyre/
Not sure whether to go for 32 or 35. I run the standard Randonneur in 28 on my Pompino. Going to use the Cross Check for longer trips and touring, but want it to be fast as well. Think 35 might be a bit too fat. Opinions? Pro version looks a bit lighter so wanted to go for those.
Also, I want to run SRAM Rival shifters/levers with Avid V-brakes. Is that possible? Will I need some sort of cable adaptor?

^^ Thetford forest is around a 1 hour drive from Norwich. So you could well be passing sections of on the way up from London. All the best riding is closer to Brandon park rather than Thetford. It's great fun for singlespeed, I haven't tried fixed though. Not been there for years now & I know a lot of work has gone into the trails since then.
These guys are the best people to ask. They do a lot of the trail maintenance so should know it really well.

picked this up locally tonight. Not sure what to do with it yet but too good to pass up
1" threadless carbon forks and something like a Campag Veloce Group.

Fantastic - looks like campag centaur - do you have the groupset? - thumbies or Bullets?
It's actually rather elegant - I was expecting something a bit more like this
-
• #65784
bullet shifters
I think the group is Olympus MTB
Elucid toe cages (for a bubble)
and just waiting on rigida dp 22's laced to hubs -

Don't know if i'm going to get shot for asking this but my Girlfriend is wanting a quick release wicker basket for her bike. Anyone had any experience of these and could say if they're any good or not ? Don't want to put something on that's going to fall off.

That actually looks like a proper MTB - I like it!
Bullet will also be fun! I've never actually seen it used in anger!
I also like a bit of Euclid - one of my all-time favourite groupsets!

i have a spare nos bullet set
-
• #65789
Tempted - but the only mtb I still own is an WorldForce VR1
Bullet would not really be in keeping.
(BTW that's not my VR1 - mines a bit less flashy and fully de-stickered ) -

That is HAWT.

I love the idea of dual crown forks for, what, 100mm of travel.
-
• #65792
Mines got single crown Z2s but there's about 150mm on the back end!
They're so old they predate disc brakes and OTP bearings,
All my bearings have little brass grease ports, and there are braze-ons for a front mech and for your brake cables.
I run Magura HS33s and an old XCPro triple chainset! -
• #65793
When I say braze-on's - that's exactly what they are - the whole frame except the big gold swing arm is TIG-welded steel! -the swing arm bit is CNC machined from a block of aluminium
I assume that by the time Azonic licensed the design the whole thing was aluminium, but I'm not 100% sure -

That's a nice piece mate

just waiting on a headset press to fit cups snuggly,
, I hope the forks are not too short to complete the headset, previous was Deore
the bike used to get bullied by the others,
they used to call him ugly and stupid, and laugh at himso I sat down and told him
"don't worry son, be of good cheer,
be true to your heart, and never break your balls for nobodyand they won't laugh any more"

@saarf
More pics please - that looks so hideously brilliant.
I'd like to ride it slowly along the seafront at Rimini whilst eating an ice cream.
