Just had a quick whip round RP after work and then up col de pentonville etc feels good.
I'm a bit unsure on the wheels (and tyres obviously!) - but as I guess these will be replaced in the near-ish future I can deal with it.that's very nice, Tenderloin, who are all those people in your backyard?
Put an add on Craigslist saying I'd be sunbathing nude, with an open door policy.
Popular guy.

Love the Q-rings. While waiting for the replacement frame (first one had the standard R3 BB cracks) I had to race on my Van Nicholas and shifted the cranks over to that, so got to try them back to back with everything else kept the same. I'm still not sure how much is placebo and how much is real, but I do feel happier spinning away, particularly climbing. Feels a little smoother and like I'm pushing a little lighter gear than I actually am.
Shifting is just as good as it was on round rings, no downsides that I've experienced so the next time I need rings/cranks for a road bike I'll be sticking with Qs.

Keeping it, then?

I've been playing around with my setup again (as if I ever stopped!) and decided not to sell.
Old seatpost with 10mm less setback than the Nitto has helped considerably, new bars are in the post with 10mm more reach (and proper size width), debating inline post and 130mm stem.
And possibly a saddle with a hole...I WILL FIND THE RIGHT SETUP GOD DAMNIT, I WILL!!

Thought of getting a bike fit? Saves guessing

That would be defeatist!

Seriously though, I will do soon, just playing around with what I've got seeing what differences it makes.
Once I've got the CX bike, I'll get myself fitted properly so I can kit it correctly. -

So, my singlespeed finally rideable. Really pleased with it. Project started because I wanted a bike that could make me ride with the gear guys but without commiting to gears.
I got slightly inspired by old crit bikes which essentially was build with track bike like geometry i.e steep angles, high bottom bracket for early accelerating out of the corners and a fairly forward position on the bike for easy drafting and a low and aero position.
The bike is about 5cm/2inches shorter than an equivelantly sized road bike so its definitely more compact.Still a bit to do. I've got a stem with a steeper angle in sight for a lower setup. I'll also have to figure out the best way to make threaded holes for bottle cages.

similar to my current project too, what brake calipers are they?

^^^^ That's interesting.
I'm planning on running SS with a ring on the inside (sram again) as it should give me a 42.5mm chainline. Isn't yours like 44mm+ with that outer ring?

^^^^^Those Challenge Forte tyres right? how are they just bought a pair but haven't had the chance to fit yet, how do they ride?

@Zdrenka .. easiest way to make threaded holes is to use Rivet Nuts
http://www.rivetwise.co.uk/productrange/nutdetails.asp?nut=m5fro_s_a_26
These are common use in sheet metal construction / workshops

^ install them properly though! If they fail they can be a bastard to fix..

Thanks!
Calipers are the same as the Planet X Forged models, but bought in Germany.

Pound Sterling is currently in a lot better state than the Euro, so cheaper for me.The chainline is closer to 47-48mm with this setup.
Tyres are indeed Challange Forte. Only been on them for 30k so not an in deepth review but so far they seem to be quite nice. They seem to like slightly higher pressure than usual. They grip very well on the dry. Confident steering in my mind. I doubt they would last very long on a brakeless skidder rig though.

3t arx pro stem ordered. Doric seat post is next on the list. Stripped SLR will go on, even though I don't actually mind this one.
