You don't need a d-lock on an Audax...
...unless your urbanaudaxing.
There are bastards and gits and sods in every city...

A lock that big is superfluous. Outside london no one steals bikes. A wee cable is sufficient, and even if you are in a risky spot a Mini D would be much more weight efficient.
^ this again
Mini D would be as strong as that lock on the bicycle.
An alarm padlock would be useful actually, slight movement send 110dB blaring at the offender's ears and anyone within vicinity of the stolen bicycle.

Well, it's a lot of money to be just sitting in the shed :-) Plus, after receiving the frame from Robin, I soon wished I'd gone for a slightly larger frame (+2 or 3cm). It's a nice ride, but not as versatile as I'd like these days.
2 or 3 cms?!
Who fit you? -

I've just wrapped the bars on the rat bike with with an old inner tube. Everyone should do this, it's grippy and comfortable!
I would advise against it. You'll see with time.

This one shows the fading a bit better:
I reckon it looks a bit more classy/subtle than the one it was based on actually:
looks good stu! very tidy.

Anyone like to give me the cash to buy one then?
After having used a large krypto for a while now I realise a mini krypto would have been a much better shout, until that next student loan I'll be making do :p

Well if you plan to go touring anytime soon, you can borrow mine. I don't lock my bikes up ATM.

Who fit you?Robin came up with the geometry/size based on the Steamroller I had before. As a track/road bike, it's a good fit. But for longer rides and a more versatile bike, I'm more inclined to agree with the Rivendell approach to sizing these days.

have utfs, but couldnt see anything,
but does anyone know whether any resprayers do a chrome-revealing service!?
like, stripping paint off of a chromed frame/lugs and buffing it up?
I'd do it myself, but I want it to be a looker....

Is this an Enders Game reference? If so, rep! If not, meh.

just looking at bars and stems, what is the benefit in oversize ones? anyone recommend any cheap ones?
Forget any claimed benefits for OS bars/stems. The reason to get them is practical. Both MTB and road use OS, therefore more choice in stems. It's now standard, so any future upgrades you do will probably be OS.
For stems go to ebay. Deda Zeros' seem to be well priced and are light as are Ritchy's.
I don't know how up-to-date the links are but this post might be helpful.
FSA bars are good value for money. It's all about personal preference, I like compact ones. There's are really good website I thought I had bookmarked which brakes down lots of bar shapes.

This is a new project of mine, I bought the full bike off eBay, it was in fairly crap condition, lots of rust and a seized stem (took it to armourtex, real sound guys removed it for £15)
Despite it's poor condition it's a lovely frame, and if I decide to build it up and ride it I'll get it resprayed.
Some questions:
1). Who the hell are WYLD?
2). What the hell is the braze on in the 2nd picture??
-
• #65143
the braze on is for a race number and I would imagine wyld is related to this chap http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Percy_Wyld
-
• #65144
1) no idea
2) could be wrong, but it's for a racing number? -

Will look into the possibility that this frame is related to that bloke
