  • Is it the 7410 post?

This is where I found the reviews - http://www.roadbikereview.com/cat/controls/seatposts/shimano/dura-ace-sp-7410/prd_28058_2510crx.aspx

Even I have to admit that that's a small cross section of users and maybe I should have done a bit more research.

But as I weigh over 18st, I didn't want to take the chance.

If its a newer Shimano post you have, I'm gonna be well pissed of I didn't get one myself now!

  • it is 7410. those things get NJS certification, you know, they should be good!
i'm 100+ kg, so more or less the same category, and i never had any issues

  • That is nice! But level the bars a bit more.

^^^Well done man that's looking nice! I'd agree on the bar angle adjustment though

Thanks chaps! Yes I agree too, setup needs some playing with but it is lovely to ride!

  • ^^ Bugger. I wanted to get a post to match my cranks and possibly a front brake if I get one. Ended up ordering a Nitto S83 instead.

  • Unpacked the frame cleaned, rust converted then Built.... got to fit the Campy headset and Awaiting different stem and a lock ring to arrive and i'm rocking... Super tight frame with really nice details made out of Columbus SL but with Shimano drop outs....
    Super happy with it....

  • ^ Thats pretty sweet. Would love something similar myself.

  • just how big are you? =))

    prolly not big enough :(

  • While we're kinda on the subject of cogs and lockrings... I may have just ordered a brand new Royce wheelset and seeing as this is my first non-proprietary hubset I'd like some suggestions please. EAI? DuraAce?

  • DA.

Cheap, good and available in an LBS.

(I'm sure eia are fine too)

  • DA are good, maybe not if the hubs are silver and you want the cog/hub to match up.

I understand Phil Wood make pretty decent cogs, albeit a bit expensive.

  • DuraAce is the cheapest sprocket that's good enough

    Phil is the best

    Belgian sex!

  • ^^^^ cool picture, now build it! Quicker!

  • I love photos of all the bits of a bike laid out like that. Looks promising!

I'm a bit annoyed with my touring frame - the canti studs were brazed on when it was repainted by a framebuilder. Strangely the distance between the studs is very different between the front and the rear. I rode the frame a couple of times with a long-drop caliper and road rims/tyres so I didn't notice anything strange, but now I've found some cantis and

    The rear:

75mm between the studs - buckets of room for massive tyres.

    The front:

47mm between the studs... and only 24mm between the narrowest points of the spring mounts. I could barely scrape a wide touring rim through the gap between the spring mounts, and I'd have to deflate the tyre completely to get the wheel in. MAFAC cantis won't work at all with these studs (photo should make that obvious), neither will the low-profile Shimano cantis I pinched off my MTB... I don't know what would work. I'm going to see a framebuilder tomorrow and see what he thinks... might be cheaper to find some new forks; they'll need repainting in either case, so maybe even a new frame.

Why would anyone do this? Fffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

  • ss conversion with back brake only?

    seems to be hip

  • Cut both the bastards off, sell the MAFACs, use long drop callipers.

  • Move the barstards out/new forks

  • But why would anyone do that in the first place? Are they spaced for V-brakes or some kind of canti that I don't know of?

  • Probably worth asking your framebuilder to talk you through what he had in mind before taking any drastic action or purchasing new forks!!

i spotted a red brake cable
sneaking in some hhsbness I see!

Oh it was done years before I bought it, and I've had the frame under my bed for two years too. I'd be doubly pissed off if I had paid for the work myself!
