  • Just changed bars. I now have the confidence to get out of the saddle. Not sure yet but I might replace the rolls with a banana seat.

    Have I dropped acid?

  • Naaah, this is acid free acid. As it says on the bike - Crazy fun!

  • Indeed it was! - but the theme for the event was sort of HHSB - so that's the reason for the stupid angle :-)

    It's effing retarded

  • it's effing retarded

    haha!! :-d

  • I did this to my Pre Cursa a couple of days ago.

That, and adding RB021s are the most recent changes made. No tape for moar zen.

  • Very neat, more details please?

    misc ti bits
Annoyed I wasted money on cheap adjusters when these were only a fraction more. Oh well.

    Best Post today!!! :-]

  • Just finished lacing the front wheel for my everyday bike, constantly adding new things to it as I go along, latest edition was the hope hub on front. Bike is full XT/XTR with thumb shifters, brooks from 1936, just a complete mix of parts really but its my favourite bike haha.

    Sounds interesting, photos?

  • I'm not really a fan of Brooksies on anything other than classic British steel / tourers, but the rest of the bike looks like a fun runaround.

  • aye, its for getting to an from everwhere really, brooks is for comfort and just go with the full mix of stuff on the bike.

  • Wow, you have increased your collection sir! Tourer sounds good but I would change the BB if I were you, get something nice in there! Look forward to seeing it built up!

    Haha yeah just a tad!
Yeah I did a little reading and from internet hearsay and no authoritative persons, which said that there is little functional difference between them, although I missed a dura ace BB on ebay which went for £15 :(

  • A little bank holiday trip out to Epping to pick this up. I have no firm plans but it's looking like it'll be my 'best'.
It's handbuilt in Grantham by a guy that built frames for the olympic team, Serial number is 124! I think it's been stored unused for 10 years or so by the guy I bought it from, it's absolutely amazing condition considering its age (Columbus stickers date it as mid 80s I think). It's supposed to be SLX but feels a little heavy. That might be the BB/Headset tricking me though.
    All in all, well happy.

Straight bladed forks, chrome, neat little cable guides and a braze on for a racing number...

Yeah. I didn't even mean to win it really, I thought I'd be well outbid. Seller didn't even think it'd go for that much!

I don't really have the money for it either, tbh. Gonna have to sell a couple of bits.

Can you please explain what this is.

Is it an extended kids bike?

  • custom stumpjumper by the looks of it

Needs DA shifters, rear mech and calipers. I say 'needs'..
Pretty sure this just made the sun come out.

    (Pedals are NOS wellgos, believe)

Is it an extended kids bike?

That's exactly what it is. Started off with a kids 16" wheeled bike. Extended the rear end to fit a 26" wheel but I measured it 100mm too long by mistake. Not a bad mistake though, makes it easier to ride. Then I got some bent forks from a re-cycle place, cut the canti mounts off and welded them to the seatstays and used what was left to extend the forks.

How it looked after pulling it out of a bush

    1st bit of welding

I can ride it with either size wheels as the 16" is a coaster brake.
