  • TB14 ano or Omega V's are the only option man!

  • edit i know i need matching cages

    King Cages.

  • Yep, A23's are on my list (for Mack hub rebuild) but so are TB14's, Omega 'v's and good ol' Open Pro....

Don't forget the new H+Son Archetype which is as wide as the TB14 but in a lovely aero shape.

  • Lovely Somec, and agree, more photos needed!

    Yep, and them.

And yes, We all need more of that Somec, that's a special frame.

  • Risers, thomson stem and seatpost and an eno rear wheel. Then we're set.

  • I seem to remember when i worked for cyclesurgery they had a few cheap 27'' wheels that would accept a screw on block - So you could still use a 5/6/7 speed freewheel with it - Sunrace do a 5 speed freewheel for about £7

    Raleigh Wheel 27 X 1-1/4" Rear Nutted

basic but will get it back on the road - Id recommend adjusting the cones because are too tight out the box

I woulden't use a tiagra hub, you'll most likely have spacing issues and won't be able to use less than 7 speed on it

I sort of saw this problem coming when I originally built my GF's bike for her but it was a cheap build and I threw it together with whatever parts I could get cheaply and easily, plus I don't really know what I'm doing when it comes to bodging together old parts...

The bike is running 27" wheels and the rear has a maillard helicomatic hub and cassette. I've just had to replace the chain and predictably the new chain doesn't bind with the slightly worn cassette causing the chain to slip badly. NOS helicomatic cassettes seem rare and expensive so simply replacing the cassette isn't an option so I think I'm looking at replacing the wheel. 2nd hand options don't seem that easy to find (quick look on here, Hillary and Ebay) so what are my options for getting a new wheel?

SJS has a decent selection of 27" rims so that bit is easy, but what hub would people recommend? The current set up is a 5speed rear cassette, with Suntour VX RD. The cheapest rear hub on SJS is tiagra, but obviously that is a 10speed cassette - would this work with the existing derailleur?

If so then that makes everything easy. If not, any suggestions?

That is worse than some of my photos.

  • Poor composition, lacking Focus...

Give us a shout about that cable grommet. Although you won't need it if you're running brakless...

  • New roadie finished...

753 Ribble Frame (built by the forum's very own Perks)
    Campag Centaur 10 speed groupset
    Campag Chorus 10 speed wheelset
3T pro chrome stem and 3T something bars
Shit Selle Italia XP (will change for a Flite ASAP)

  • nice

  • It'll be nicer still when you sort out the saddle and bar angles.

I expected that would be coming - saddle angle was sorted immediately after I took this. Don't know why I didn't just take another photo.

  • No pedals, Skewers are all over the place, yard needs a sweep, in the little ring, valve caps.

    FFS.

  • :d

  • Bars look fine but the tyre logos FFS... please ban yourself.

  • Valve caps are fine unless it's a race bike.

  • took a photo whilst its in the small ring too

  • also you used shimano DT cable guides on a campag build!

  • Valve caps are fine unless it's a race bike.

1 cap allowed (at a push).

  • I have both caps on all bikes apart from the wheels I race on. I make sure of this in the winter. It's bad enough having to try to undo the little valve thing let alone doingit in the cold with the threads covered in crap. I agree that Conti should make them in a less conspicuous colour though. Shwalbe clear valve caps ftw

Are they Reflex tubs? I have got exactly the same thing with the finish lifting off on the braking surface. What type of pads are you using?
