You don't want to be doing that. You'll end up dying a slow and painful death
And then you get AIDS.

^^^Cheers mccd
Is it worth looking to get a hidden bolt seeing as i'm only running one chainring on the inside?
If i screwed on a hidden bolt without another chainring is it likely to just bend it towards the crank arm? -
• #57631
If you have cranks with a hidden 5th bolt and only use the inner ring, you need a spacer of the same thickness as the outer ring to pad things out. Are they Campag? I have plenty of spare Campag 5th bolts
-
• #57632
Yeah campag chorus, here's my setup apologies for the shit quality.
If that's the case I would definitely appreciate taking one off your hands. -
• #57633
Aren't chainrings 2.5mm thick with a 5mm difference c/c?
-
• #57634
my vern calipers aren't great but the teeth measure about 3mm and the chainring even more
-
• #57635
They vary, the spacer between the rings is 2.6mm but the centreline of the teeth isn't necessarily on the centreline plane of the ring mounting section, as some Campag rings are dished.Your track ring is obviously going to be thicker than 10s road rings, but that doesn't matter for this purpose. You'll need something like 5-6mm of spacer sandwiched between the inner ring and the back of the crank, and you want it to be pretty close to right; Campag actually supply shims just 0.08mm thick to dial things in to avoid bending the rings.

Ahh that make sense (track ring thicker than 10speed etc)
just had a quick measure and looks about 7.5mm between the twoJust when you think your build is finished, something else comes along and gives you more work! I guess this is how i usually learn more about bikes, e.g. chainring tool haha
