Yes. Or maybe http://www.lfgss.com/thread11705.html ?

it's this one

If it's getting repainted and your going to the effort of getting the proper decals, then why not restore it to the original black with white logo?
I know that's the boring thing to say but it seems the 'right' thing to do. Not sure if white was ever a factory colour, but seen a few which look pretty nice:

there's also this one

Yeah, I've seen that too, but thanks. I'm torn between the clip-on and ziptie-on versions to be honest. You have the zip ties right? Do you match it with a front guard?
-
• #57182
I have the one with poppers, and no front mudguard. My tyres aren't big enough to throw water up/back at me like my MTB does.

I'm choosing the rest of the parts for my Dolan at the moment, not sure between aluminium or steel track cogs, any thoughts?

What's the functional difference between different materials when it comes to cogs... not something I've considered before.
-
• #57185
Steel lasts longer than alu. But it's heavier.
-
• #57186
Avoid alloy cogs, unless it's a 20T+ sprocket for a hill climb bike
-
• #57187
Thanks, Steel it is then!
-
• #57188
Avoid those Token steel ones too, they look like they are very far from Token's finest work. Get DuraAce if you want a cheap sprocket, or EAI or Phil if you've got a bit more money to put into a long term investment. DuraAce are functional, Phil are a bit quieter and may last longer, although the difference between a very long time and a very very long time may be moot.

I'm not sure they will work with my hub though, I using some Miche Pistard wheels and on the velosolo website in the description of the Miche hub it says "(not compatible with Andel/Dura Ace)."
I was also planning on matching it all with a token crankset, BB, and lockring.
-
• #57190
That's lock ring compatibility; all sprockets have the same thread.

Finally got round to putting my wheels and other bits on my road bike in the last couple of days.
Last step was fitting my cleats and trying them with the 600 aero pedals I got. After all the fucking around it turns out either my toe clips are too small or my feet are too big, and I can't actually stuff them far enough into the cages to clip in.
I'm pretty sure the toe clips are large, and even if they're not tracking down a new pair will be too much hassle. I might have to say goodbye to the dream of the 600 Ultegra groupset stretching to the pedals.

^^^^ I have a token steel cog, it seems fine. On par with DA, Miche, Andel etc. I can't comment on wear yet.
-
• #57193
Oh okay.
Just out of curiosity, do you know why the lock rings aren't compatible?

Different threads. ISO/JIS are 1.290", Miche are like Campag, 33.5mm i.e. 1.32"

If you think Miche and DuraAce are on a par with one another, you have much to learn about track sprockets.

It's just a cog. I've never had problems with either.
(runs for cover)

• #57197
Are they really that bad? or just not quite as good...
-
• #57198
Considering they are the same price as DuraAce, they are shit. Look at the edge where your chain roller is going to sit. You can clearly see horrible defects where the metal has been sheared by the stamping tool, and also that the stamping dies don't line up properly, causing a ridge to form at the midline plane of the sprocket. That's the kind of quality you'd accept on a Create, but if you're building a nice bike, get a nice sprocket.

The Dasia isn't a project really. But the Kondor is Scoot's new bike. I picked up the wheels today, Miche Primato's on to Mavic MA3's, I've got some Cinelli Champion Del Mondo bars which will probably go on it and so it's just a nice chainset and stem to source now.
I need to work out if the BB is ISO or JIS taper first.Sumo, it's nice to see the kondor getting ready for a flight.
i don't know much about BB standards but what i can tell you is that originally the bike was with old sugino maxy crankset with 3-bolt chainrings.
good luck, man. looking forward to seeing it finished. -

It's just a cog.
It has a chain pulling on just a few teeth with a force of up to half a ton at the perimeter, and it has to transmit that force to a soft alloy hub shell at the much smaller thread. I'd say that's a regime which calls for a precision product made from good materials.
Or black with sparkles like Nahguavkire's Fort, and matte black decals....
