  • teehee, i always go at speeed ;]

yes the squeeek was the symptom. maintainance and a proper look down the seat tube brought it to light. the internally hidden seat tube cracked around the (just) two spot welds (tacks really) and went halve way around the tube already, causing the seatpost/saddle to move even more resulting in even more squeeeking.

i'm gutted over the work that this frame received and rather disappointed with the brand as to design such weak ass shit. my unipack lasted longer before the seat tube went!!!

on the broight side, at least i get it sorted through warranty, but due to my concerns over their design, i feel, i have to upgrade (splash out even more dosh) to get something that will (i pray, really properly pray to the gods) not fall apart from a bit of riding around.

    *meh

    unluckiest mofo around!

doubting i can buy a cinelli grphix xl seat post in 31.6mm befor saturday, i wonder if i may borrow your spare to get riding right away. anyone?

  • Fair! :D
New here, so will take some time before I know everyones proclivities. :P

  • no problem ^

  • ... and the fastest climbing unipack fo' sho!

  • Narrower != lower rolling resistance. If you want something a bit more sporty than Big Apples (you don't, but there's no accounting for taste), Marathon Racer Evo is available in 40-559

I'm sure you could run them tubeless with sealant

Ok, thought I'd check what the weight difference it would be to change to No Tubes kit and the much faster rolling (or so I've been informed) Shwalbe Marathon Racer 26" x 1.5" tyres and I can save HALF A KILO PER WHEEL going with them! 0_o
Have just ordered them from chainreactions.
No wonder the new build felt so bloody slugish...

  • Today I have been mostly fitting a new headset to the Azonic

  • How long did the cane creek last for? Just had S-3 fitted to mine and hope being a skinflint wasn't false economy.

Ok... being quite ahem new to the SS scene, what the hell is a unipack?!!
I got rats (I does like), polos (yuk), functional (racks on em), and your basic track bikes with a couple of mods (or not), so what else am I missing? 0_o

  • unipack is a shitty cheap make; see create bikes

I have an s3 on my mountain bike, it's done maybe 1000-1500 miles mostly on canal-path style paths but a fair chunk of proper off road.

It had been in there for 7 years, but with 8-ish bikes in the fleet and no enthusiasm for getting wet, none of my bikes has a hard life. It went a bit loose at the weekend, so I got a new one just in case*, but the Cane Creek I just took out has lots of life left in it, and I'm now assuming that the loosening was just down to the stem walking up the steerer due to some particularly maladroit move on my part.

*and because the Crank Bros was on sale for £20

Rene, I have a spare carbon 31.6 post if you are in need of it for a few days?

    brilliant summary!

I also have a spare carbon 31.6 seatpost.

  • There is clearly a glut

  • unipack is a shitty cheap make; see create bikes

Right, gotcha. So in other words, unipack = the cheap piles of mass produced floury coloured cack that I see a lot of trendy wannabes, who can't be bothered to actually build their own, riding?! (not saying that cheap or fluorescent is necessarily bad) :D

    brilliant summary!

Why thank you dear sir! :P

  • Mwuhaha! Lets see how many people I upset with that one. ;P

No offense to reeen, I'm sure your unipack was lovely!

  • You got it down Angel.

Now put the back brake back on again.

  • Lol! Fair enough. I just love scaring grannies crossing the road infronna me with endos! :D
Although the one I headbutted down oxford st was probably pushing it a lil now I think about it...

  • Last bike pick up; Panasonic team time trial equipped with 105. Stunningly fugly setup at the moment but the plan is to bring it back to 1990 or thereabouts components wise (3T extensions are set to go). The seatpost can be turned around I do hope cuz the ano matches the metallic blue paint on the frame.

    Excuse image quality!

    you need this stem ;)

  • Rene, I have a spare carbon 31.6 post if you are in need of it for a few days?

I also have a spare carbon 31.6 seatpost.

thanks so much guys, i'll pick up the new frame set on sat around noon.
if i'm in need of your offer, i'll contact you and try and pickup that same day if possible.

    thanks, it's much appreciated!

  • Update on the leader, I said it was finished and not a project - how was I mistaken.

Due to I'll design and/or my mahoosive bum, the seat post area gave way and frame is a write-off.

Can anyone lend me a 31.6mm seat post for a week until mail-order shipped mine for the warranty replacement frame? Needless to say, it won't be another 735 frame. I also have the original leader carbon aero post going for sale now, if anyone is interested. Pm me for measurements, but I know it's for a 27.2mm clamp.

    Thanks in advance!

    FFS....time for this mate
