  • Just heard back from the seller RE this thing.
Going to make for an interesting build! 700c front and rear as I expected, but 130mm rear spacing. Means I may do MTB disk hubs with a bolt on sprocket or something. Hmmm.... any other suggestions?

Do it. The ISO bolt on cog is the best thing ever. Highly recomended. If you used a trials bike rear hub such as an Atomz fixed hub (pictured below) you could use a freewheel on the threads too if you wanted. (135mm spacing, but you could spring the extra 5mm?)

  • will the chainline remain the same though ? thats the question.

  • you couldnt spring it because its alu it wud just snap crackle and pop pop pop

  • Surely there must be 2.5mm to be had in each stay?

    Anyways, I'm all up for a re-space...

  • yer you might get away with it
i just wudnt try it with aluminium
    sheldown advises against
    and he is almighty

  • I kinda like how it originally look to be honest.

    Too late now ^^

I like this - a conversion that doesn't look shit for a change.

    Thanks :)

  • First fixed effort just finished, mostly from stuff I had lying around in the garage plus some new bits. Nishiki Landau Tri-A. original bars, Cane Creek Cross-Top Lever, ITM stem, Charge Spoon, seat post, old Mavics, original Shimano 600 cranks (170mm), pedals, seat post, front hub and brake, Zenith hub, Miche 17t and Stronglight 42t.

  • looking good.

  • The purple headed warrior is finally rideable, not finished but that will soon happen.

  • and the frame dylan is a sound as an undamaged one. trust me i been riding it hard for a week and it is as the stolen guy from gumtree says 'smooth ride'!

Absolutely, people are too paranoid (imo) of re-spacing aluminium frames. You just have to be very careful. Clamp your b/b shell in a vice, get a straight edge and a ruler and your away.

I dont like the idea of holding a sprocket to the hub with 5 M6 bolts though. White Industries 12 spline system looks doap though.

  • Current fixed project;

Just deciding on pedals, new front brake and colour of bar tape!

  • Weh hey it arrived! I was soooo close to buying that thing.

    You like?

  • looking good.

    Thanks :)

  • Slack Bar Tape

Unless you actually want to TT, sell the bars and disc (you'll make a mint) and fund a sensible wheelset and some nice bars.

  • Finally got the Bob Jackson road worthy, and with the freakish warm weather we are having (warm for Norway in January at least), I managed to take it for a spin too. Considering my winter bike has 35mm tyres, and this one 20/22mm tyres, I was expecting to find the ride a bit harsh at first. The bike was however, super comfortable (just needs some tweeks to saddle/bars positioning), yet felt fast and responsive (did'nt really push it though).
(BTW Sorry for the dark images, struggling with inbuilt flash on camera).

Awesome. What about an aero fork?

  • Really like the look of the bob jackson, well done smallfurry.

  • Second built, first track, almost done, put together to see how it rides. Too much toe overlap. Will try to fix with straight fork, smaller clips and pedals (suggestions for short clips and pedals?). Picking up a variety of bars and stems to vary, moustache, higher risers and drops. Need to repaint frame (same pearl white) and 4spoke *loose the carbon look, matte black) then, both are quite worn. Rides great though!

  • Very pretty Smallfurry!!

  • Nice looking ride smallfurry. How long before you can start riding it regularly?

  • that's really nice, the gold bars and stem touch it off perfectly

  • roman your bike is amazing!

that looks lovely. surely straight forks would make the overlap worse though? i love those cranks and chainring, they looks sick
