  • Schwalbe Marathon GreenGuard come in 25c or just go for a Panaracer Pasela.

They're not knobby, but they're neither a slick tyres.

  • my next build- rode it home , )

    will break and add
Compact crank/ 2 speed group and decent wheels-seat and tape

  • Basically a combination of a road and cyclocross bike = commuter bike.

Thanks for clearing that up Ed

    Panaracer Paselas are lovely tyres.

  • wish somebody made a 25c cyclocross - just something mini but with some nobbles

    do they?

    Vredestein did.
And Dugast makes tubs in all sizes and treads you wish.

  • nitpicking, b screw / chain too long / chainguard

@ Jersey and anyone else with an opinion; B screw is as far out as I dare, but jockey wheel is still not getting too close to the cassette. It works, so we'll suck it and see. Looking twice at it made me change the cable outer, which seemed too short. The distance from axle to cable stop on the only modern bike I measured is 25mm less that on this, which explains why the supplied outer was struggling.

Chain length looks ok to me, but the long cage mech is probably overkill. I wanted to future-proof a crankset swap.

If the cranks were fugly then, they're worse now, but at least the Louboutins wont get mucky. I couldn't bring myself to fit one of those anti-jump chainguard things, so will have to advise against too much kerb hopping whilst changing down.

  • i've had similar problems with old/out of date frames and new mechs. I've filed the tab on the frame to make it work.

  • weird mc escher room up there

  • nice carbon

  • My condor is pretty much finished

(I'll take better photos when the weather clears up a bit)

Quite light actually, 19lbs dead on

I'd remove every single white bit/sticker on that. it would look 1000% better, imo.

  • Just replaced a Turbo saddle with a Brooks Professional. I think it's allowed now Selle Italia own Brooks?!

    http://rossinproject.blogspot.com/

Not really for sale btw. Domestic pressure etc.

  • In general, if the hubs look OK to the eye, they should be 'as good as new' after a change of ball bearings right?
A new set of Phil ballbearings (£6 each) could give my System X hubs another year I think ... unless there is anything else I don't know of?

  • why if they take sealed cartridge?

  • Run a ballpoint pen around the races to check for pitting / roughness / any other damage.

I could be wrong, but I thought the replacement included both balls and races?
Had someone do it for me last time so not sure what bits were replaced tbh.

    It shouldn't be allowed

    this.

  • meh, if he find it more comfortable, who are we to says such thing?

such discussion would be fine in the porn topic, rather than current project.

I use Halo Courier Berlins in the midst of winter, if that helps? They don't have knobbles, but ridges and pockets instead. The added bonuses are, incredible puncture resistance and very strong sidewalls. Available in 700x24. I'm currently using the Continental Super Sport Plus, but will change back to my believed Courier Berlins as the weather deteriorates.

I did use the Courier Berlins in snow through all of last winter, and several times when it was -4C and twice when it was -6C. Obviously I really trust those tyres. I guess they would be very reasonable in light mud, just as it is in mild snow/slush.

  • sometimes I think you're on some kind of commission for those tyres GA2G

  • Courier Berlins sound good from GA2G's description. Been uming and aahing over the Winter Tyres thread for the past few days. Still undecided. Want something that'll get me to work in the filthiest of conditions, including ice if possible, but skinny rims are probably not the most practical.

  • I hate my Courier berlin. I have no confidence with it at all in turns, great for skidding but turning is scary.

  • Got reasonable clearance with this old pug frame
