Apologies for such a shit photo.

  • Looking good mate, good to see the wheel back on the streets :-)

Just popped on the rear wheel (thanks to OldSkoolRacer) and the new stem/bars combo.

  • ^ you must be tiny!

  • Project Antiporn/frankenstein/ratbike/bso/commuter is a go

Can't see that ending up in Anti even if that's what you're aiming for!

i think he's going for the "look how bad my bike is" "oh no it isnt, it's nice!" tactic

  • Anyone know the nipple size from CRC cycles provided with the DT swiss competition spokes, to buy the appropriate spoke key?

  • If you're looking for black 1?" I can help.

That's exactly what I'm looking for! Will pm you when I'm home.

Don't waste time and money with a multi-fit key, these one-size four-sided spoke keys are the best kind.

  • found the above on bulgier.net- perhaps mine's an early/mutant Mexico...
came with panto'd crankset and milled & drilled shifters like catalog...
if I take a couple o' inches from between my shins and ankles, think it'll fit like a glove

scrubbed up OK, shame about the odd rust marks (
NOS early '80's Super decals in black,Super record black and some other bits to finish
[liking this embedded pics shennanigans, cheers again Oz )]

Thanks, so the red one it is.

Is there any difference between the pro and normal. I'd happily pay the quid presuming it's better, but maybe the non-pro is better?

  • Is there any difference between the pro and normal?

Looks like the metal insert is plated on the pro one, maybe even stainless. Not likely to make any practical difference, I've had my Spokeys for about 20 years and they haven't worn out or rusted away.

  • The pro spokeys have two inserts vs. one for the regular ones.

  • Finally finished my Bob Jackson (except front brake), will get some better pictures on it's maiden voyage. Until then:

  • Aspicer what length stem is that, looks about an 80 maybe? always love the spiral paint jobs that Jacksons do, does it have a special name? Loverly build though.

Just finished my BJ too, took it out for its first proper shakedown, freaking awesome rides like a new bike (mostly is) though realise I need a shorter stem only AFTER I've wrapped the bars.

Thanks a lot! Very close, it's a 90mm stem. I had a 70mm before and realised it was too short. Luckily before i wrapped the bars, re-wrappings a pain, but will be worth it for sure. I've only been out for a few miles but so far it fews really good, i'm excited to take it for a proper ride.

  • xander did you have it clear coated since i saw it?

I havent had it done yet but im dropping it off before I go on holiday so itll be nice and ready for when i come back!

lovely, nicest vigorelli build ive seen. real classy

No. Once I put the hed 3 on it, it will be anti. You mark my words!

  • 1973 Bob Jackson Messina 55cm 531 f&f + shimano 600 arabesque + 600EX + Campagnolo Nuevo Tipo + Nitto Noodle & Dynamic9

Rolling on diamond encrusted 27s with a mostly NOS drivechain (Just butched a NOS DuraAce 7400 crankset for its loverly chainrings). Its not completely done yet, still have arabesque front mech & crank arms to find.
Will get some proper photos once its really done, its first proper run will be tomorrow on a 4-5day tour of the north. Just need to swap out the 90mm stem for a 70mm stem as its just a tad long (I R T-Rex) and the aweful charge bar tape will go once I get replacement noodles sorted as these ones got bent in the post.

Never pedaled a road bike with toe overlap, t'is like lightening and a bit scary in the slower corners.

  • Looking great already.

Maybe it's the big tyres but it looks much smaller than a 55cm (somehow). Or just the 27s playing tricks with the eye.

  • yeah tyres are huge as struggled to find anything that wasn't amberwalled in 27" the gator's are 27 1 & 1/4 (about 32-35c). Though TBH narrower tyres might not help as rims are virtually touring rims (about 19mm between the walls) and would just not sit right. With skinnier wheels & tyres the bike does look very different in proportion.
