  • it's not immediately dangerous, it's the clearance between the down tube and tyre that you have to be careful of.

yeah really close, what do I have to be careful of ?

  • I've just found out my Current Project has an Italian BB thread.

    threadless bb for the win.

  • They're not going to work on a 70mm bb though are they?

  • yeah really close, what do I have to be careful of ?

the forks flexing backwards, jamming the tyre against the downtube and you going flying over the bars.

  • And they'd easily flex enough just dropping off a kerb.

    I'd switch those out personally.

  • get some 23's on there

  • yeah thats probably best. I have a pair of colnago forks with a nice rake to them as well. Thanks for the help guys, as usual quick and spot on :)

  • I meant the tyres, not the forks. But hey whatever.

    sigh

  • I think it look fine.

it's only a problem if you decided to jump off kerbs and the like on bicycle that weren't designed to jump off kerbs (and the likes).

  • ^talking bollocks.

  • yeah really close, what do I have to be careful of ?

you have to be really careful not to set your bike up with nice hubs and (not so nice) deep v rims

    oops, you've already done so...

  • A forumeanger rode a bicycle with clearance like that, the only time he managed to get arse over head is when he hit a stupidly large pothole.

  • That's ok then.

Round bladed forks like that do flex in that ---> direction.

are you talking about Fruit or Bluequinn? because it has happened to them both.

  • That's ok then.

when you're riding, the fork flex upward, rather than toward the frame.

the only time it'll flex toward the frame is when you hit the wheel against the kerbs and flex the fork, i.e. a big pothole.

  • dangerous advice ITT

  • I said I think it's fine for riding as long you don't treat it like an MTB.

    This is true.

Still I like my bikes to be capable of safely riding out of potholes.

    sigh

haha yeah. I switched out the tyre to 23c but I hasn't made too much difference, hopefully it'll be fine

  • With 23c tyres you'll have no problem.

  • Pomp refresh after being nicked and recovered:

Ergonovas, Microtex, Open Pros on Goldtecs, Fortezza TriComps. Burgtec pedals are temporary while I wait for some Sidis to go with my ATAC XS pedals.

  • You don't really need 28mm tyre on the front, do you, Razuu

  • @chris- did you recover the wheels?

  • are really tight clearances like this dangerous. I mean the clearance is a tight as it gets, you can even hear the brissles on the tyre clipping the crown race, but it's still completely free running and without any real friction. Anyway I have 28's on there and I was just wondering if a 25 would be better/safer ?

Thats fierce tight, my suggestion would be to sell that frame to me, better safe than sorry, Constitution Hill takes no prisoners, a rogue luas rail, you know it makes sense!

Where did you get that delight from ?

  • hah yeah, just a lot of searching. Who is this by the way ?
