  • Done. Still a few things to change before im satisfied though (levers & shifters).

This is going to be fantastic to ride. So nice.

Campy bottle does it for me esp.

  • does anyone know which one is the gumwall and which one is all black

    http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=20416

I assume its the trans one but chainreaction are so shit at giving any sort of description and I've been fucked before by them

    same with these ones

    I assume it's translucant ?

  • Are they 29er forks or suspension corrected ? Look a little too long ?

the latter, original fork that came with it have 85mm of travel, the fork have the same.

Compare the BB drop on your bike with one which is set up with the correct length fork. If the axle to crown length of your rigid fork is the same as the suspension fork, you've done it wrong by not allowing for static sag, which you'd usually set at about 25-30mm on an 85mm travel fork.

  • Ti tourer finished.
I've got mudguards in the post, but still need to look for a rack and new panniers.
Thicker Schwalbe tyres before my holidays. These Contis will do in London.

I was thinking about a titanium seatpost and the same stem, but that would cost me another £250 and it's not really necessary.

  • That's lovely EEI. Where are you taking it?

  • two thing;

    1 - that's super awesome.

2 - Gilles Berthoud mudguard, you know it make sense.

Cheers Ed. Don't think I'm going to bother with mudguards just yet as I'm only really going to be using it when the weather is nice. If I'm honest it doesn't really ride quite how I wanted so might sell it.

Very nice, that pump on the back is great.

  • Oh, nowhere special (that's why I don't need proper touring wheelset) - my parents have a small country house near a forest in Central Poland.
I hope this bike will last years and I will not get bored of it beforehand, so I can use it for proper touring when my daughter is slightly older.
I will also swap my child trailer for one of those recumbent -like ones where kid has to pedal. It's a single chair with safety harness and a chainset.

It's a light, you plum. My pump is in my pocket*

*)no, really is - a tiny thing I bought of Henners.

  • Ah so it is < stupid.

  • anyone know what those gum color japanese touring tire is that sorta special? i recall somethign from current projects a while back, and the tires were noted.

  • Panaracer Paselas?

  • Grand Bois are also nice.
Paselas GT have better puncture protection, though.

  • are really tight clearances like this dangerous. I mean the clearance is a tight as it gets, you can even hear the brissles on the tyre clipping the crown race, but it's still completely free running and without any real friction. Anyway I have 28's on there and I was just wondering if a 25 would be better/safer ?

  • Grand Bois are fantastic lightweight tyres.

I cannot rate my 30c GB enough, doesn't have puncture protection but decent lightweight tyres tend not to either way.

it's not immediately dangerous, it's the clearance between the down tube and tyre that you have to be careful of.

You'll get grit scoring the paint. Otherwise your ok. Does it get very close to the downtube though? That's a different story.

  • er... yeah wot sumo said.

    :0

  • I've just found out my Current Project has an Italian BB thread.

  • f%+t

  • somehow i grew to like Italian threading better that English over the recent times, dunno why
    so you're lucky

  • Not if I've already bought (enrish thread) BB and cranks for a 102mm axle.

How tall are you EEI? if you do get bored of it and want to sell it - let me know.
