Martin Parr made you angry?
Well my bike is a lo pro but it has road drops so make of that what you will.

What? No I wasn't even angry, it only a bit annoying when other suggest using the rught compnent on a specific kind of bike that is designed for it, rather than the best fit for the cyclist.

Have you even use riser on your fixed wheel bicycles? For an 11 miles journery it's not exactly a great idea, but for bombing about in London, it's the most fun, at least in my opinion.
I have tried drop, bullhorn, moustache, etc. But nothing beat a nice rise bar, not even an moustache bar.
I use a flat bar, dead straight bar (nitto courier) and ride up to 40 miles so the lack of hand positions doesn't bother me.
I usually switch to a drop in the Spring as they are faster, but I prefer the control of the straight bar in the winter/when going off road. -

Far enough, I only use the drop at Waterloo bridge due to that bastard head.on wind that really make you feel like you're pulling a double decker!

So mountain bike handlebars suit a road bike more than bull horns + tt bars ?
ok thanks, i didn't know :P
It was just an idea ed, there are loads of lo pro's with risers, I thought it might be different yet still in keeping with the bike. Hardly a radical suggestion to put tribars on a TT frame. And they ARE more comfortable than risers!!1!1

And they ARE more comfortable than risers!!1!1
But an arguement for risers is being able to keep your head up easily in traffic.

And the most comfortable position is the sit up and beg one, thought not exactly fast.

Here's an update froma couple of pages back.
Here's what the bike's looking like at the moment (Note the bent forks!):
Frame is going to have all the braze-ons and mech hanger removed, then be powder coated white, along with a new set of forks.
Noooooooo!
shame really cause the paintjob of that bike is fucking awesome.
- 1 looks too good. Can you not colour match it?

In traffic you'd be on the bullhorns or tops.

I could just do the frame in the fluro green with all black and white components, but I can't be bothered with the fade. It's just a bike I use for riding around town and getting into lecturesetc. doesn't need to be anything special, aesthetically.

ive been riding with bullhorns for over 5 months now. i only use the horns whilst climbing (where i think they are brilliant), or for getting low when windy. The only other advantage is trackstanding, i find it easier on the horns, though i always use the flats because im switicng to risers and want to be used to trackstanding without horns.
disadvantages to horns (actually just horns with sloping flats) is that there isn't actually anywhere thats really comfortable for a long period of time. this is fine for me because im constantly changing hand position. TBH im looking forward to the switch back to risers when i will be able to have one comfortable posistion. I will only miss the horns on long climbs! -
• #4542
forgot to say holding the horns is shit for traffic imo because you dont get enough control over the bike...
-
• #4543
bullhorns risers bullhorns risers personal preference end of yawn

Risers backlash will continue… don't put deep rims on old frames, Spoks look shit with curved forks… yada yada yada. Endless discussion.
Look forward to the pictures Harry and welcome to the LPHHSBS.

If it's not about aesthetics, leave the braze-ons and keep the paint.

actually I'm split with that, when it come to brakeless, the bullhorn position (especially the pursuit one) is fantastic to be able to control your skidding, long smooth skid, skip skid, skid stop, etc.
still prefer riser thought.
-
• #4547
yeah, horns make skidding easier, but i was talking more about weaving in and out of traffic.

@VED's new track bike...

love to give it a razz mind. -

Shoot, swap seatposts and you can take it for a spin. I don't think my aero post can go much lower.
