Here's an update froma couple of pages back.
Rear wheel all built up (spokes arent tensioned in this photo):
Rear hub (front Hope XC) with the custom made 120mm axle and 20mm spacer. ISO cog also fitted. (Sorry for the poor photo):
Here's what the bike's looking like at the moment (Note the bent forks!):
Frame is going to have all the braze-ons and mech hanger removed, then be powder coated white, along with a new set of forks. The stem is a black ITM jobby, and I have a set of white riser bars for it. I'll be running some 25c continental Grand Prix tyres in black. Should hopefully look pretty nice when it's all done, and it's definitely one of a kind!

Not in the flesh/ close up. covered in scrapes and scratches, and the braze ons really need to go. I might go for a more adventurous colour on the frame and leave everything else in white and black. Any suggestions? -

Because riser offer the best comfort and handling, unless you mean those bullhorn bar.

Ha ha, nonsense.

LOL risers. Less hand positions = less comfort.
I do mean those bullhorn bars AND tribars :)
-

Obviously there only one hand position on a riser, but nothing else feel more comfortable deapite it's restriction, unlike people using actual track drop (like me!), prusuit bar, etc.
One hand position does not necessary mean less comforable, just less flexible especialy when commuting.

Personal preference innit, I don't find them comfortable on rides longer than 10 mins.

Risers because I don't like being stretched out. I like the nippiness of a lo-pro, not its aerodynamic position if fitted with TT bars or drops.
And risers don't really have only one position for the hands. You have two. At the top of the rise and down by the stem for a slightly lower position. I'm used to riding flat bars, for hours so it should all be fine.
And its not about being different / hip / cool. Its about what I like, aesthetically and in terms of ridestyle. Can always change it later on.

come on. its all about being hip/cool. Surely? ;)

lo pro with risers though. really? :/
-

i was using drops, but changed back to risers for the city for comfort. being more upright in traffic is good. i'm not sure risers qualify as being cool anymore, it's pretty much done to death. But they are practical.

Have you even use riser on your fixed wheel bicycles? For an 11 miles journery it's not exactly a great idea, but for bombing about in London, it's the most fun, at least in my opinion.
I have tried drop, bullhorn, moustache, etc. But nothing beat a nice rise bar, not even an moustache bar.

Come on, you wouldn't put drops on a lo pro would you? I went for risers on mine because that's all I could afford at the time, next time I have a spare £20/30 I'll either get the Nitto RB-018 or RB-021. Although I'm sure if I get 21s I'll spend most of the time with my hands on the top.

Tri bars would be far more comfortable on a lo pro. And they can look great. And you go a lot faster. Risers completely negate the lowness of the pro.

Mate, what the fuck? He wanted to have a bike to go about town and for transportation, he's not entering the TT of clerkenwell road!

He bought a TT frame didn't he?
Comfort and speed are positives for any bike aren't they?
-
• #4524
I bought a track bike didn't I? I should have a deep drop bar but I don't,since they're not exactly comfortable for everyday riding, fine for track but not for central London.

I'm starting to think you got outta bed on the wrong side this morning mate. im sensing hostility in more than one of your replies.
I have used risers, as well as almost every other type of bar on a variety of fixed wheel bikes. not that having used them has got anything to do with anything as i was joking in my previous post. and i love using risers and agree that they are the most comfortable bars for the city!
