Looks lovely raw. Out of interest why was it sand blasted as opposed to sanded if you're going to paint it?
Surely because its easier, less time consuming etc?

i'm not going to paint it myself ... brought it to a shop and asked them to call me so i can shoot some pics without the old paint.
I want to restore it to original condition and want to have it done professionally. -

I just realised something.
all the beater/project bicycle I had were blue.
all my long term/quality bicycle are red.
huh, subconscious is a strange thing after all.
Cool story bro.

Surely it's more expensive and provides an equally effective key?
If it does prolong the life of the frame then that's fair enough as it's a nice example.
All the best with that Schnitter -

Sandblastng would get into all the awkward places like detailed lug work etc. But then looking at that frame there aren't any.

blasting is twice as quick and provides a good key for the paint,it also smooths the edges of badly brazed lugs :)

2 months ago a friend of mine asked if it was possible for me to work with this **rodaplana **("she" did the 1981 volta a portugal. I think it was 81). She spent her last 15 years with dust and without seing the road). She was like this
She had a full dura-ace group but my friend also gave me this
his father was the professional rider of "her" and he have alot of dura-ace components (NOS) at home. I think he was paid with components at that time...
after alot of work she turned out like this
thank god she's to big for me... i'm in love for her... it will be very hard for me to give her back to her owner if she was a 54

So you know when you first get into building these bikes you buy lots of stuff you don't really need or turns out to be shite/cheap and gets chucked into the back of the shed? Well, I made some slightly iffy decisions early on and thought I'd throw them all together to make a pub/beater for the winter that I don't have to worry about leaving outside. F&Fs were the only 'purchase' - an Armourtexed 80s Falcon frame (£50 from stanmawr) - the rest of it from the discarded/embarrassing parts bin.
Almost finished it, just some bar tape and a I've an eye on some £15 NOS skinny black mudguards to lose in those huge brake drops. Has hilariously budget ebay-special wheels (I give them three months), cheap Michelin Dynamics, a Lasco chainset, BLB saddle, some old polished up Raleigh bars on an SR stem and a pair of Dia Compe levers which are too comfy to sell.
All I need now is a CREATE sticker (joke)...

iPhone cameras and low light really don't get on, do they...

Nothing wrong with a parts bin bike. Ever. It only proves you have enough bits to build a bike if you have to.

I really like this Ed, looking at this built up it seems a shame that someone would want to throw it away.
You say that all your long term bikes were Red what about the Bob Jackson wasn't that white?
Currenty, my touring bike is postman red, the moulton a dark red and the ulitity bike an oxide red.
The only bike that not red is the BMW of which is naked and have red bits.
To be fair it would take a lots of work to sort out the bike, but because I work in a bike shop, I got all the tools, mechanic helps and get stuff at trade price, the total for the bike is £168 which is pretty good for a brand new bike beside the frame, headset, saddle and brakes.
Maybe I should paint it red to secure it's future.

I don't understand how such small changes can ruin something?
