  • Picked up this small Mixtie for the missus. Not the greatest, but for £6.82 from ebay can't complain!

Reynolds 501, it's pretty light too. Fairly decent lugs. I personally quite like the paint job (just remove the stickers), but she wants to start a fresh. Stripped it down last night to frame.

New stem, Swept back / moustache bars, singlespeed, probably a basket / rack on front, perfect summer bike for her.

  • This one needs more coverage, very nice. (OJAW'S)

    I'm liking these practical bikes.

    +1

Some kind of chain catcher might be advisable though.

  • I think these old men's bikes would look much better with hub gears

SF - do you mean to stop the chain coming off at the front?

Am looking for a similar device for my GF's bike... any good suggestions? (other than UTFS/UTFG)

    The other option is the Paul Chain Keeper;

are you kidding? this is a repost from this page, UTFE (eyes)

  • Ha. Epic Fail for me!

    Heavier though.

I got an old steel 3 speed freehubs with 1/8 cog weighting 1/3rd of an 3 speed internal gear hubs.

That Pauls one is madly over priced.

You are more to drop the chain on the inside, so I'd get this.

  • Nice one SF, been looking and put off by price - could use an old front mech from the bin for nowt!

A very good point about weight but your not going up mountains on them

  • The Ryffranck is stunning. The perfect sensible bike.

On the road I've not needed a chain device for 1x6 (126mm spaced) but certainly did for 1x9 (135mm).

If your happy with the look. Do that.

  • Decided to finally get my act together and show you all my Bob Jackson and how it has progressed! - Apologies for the Iphone photos

    The old look

    The new look

Just changed the white grips to tape and the brooks to a concor... wheels and cranks were changed long ago.

Trying to find a half decent silver seatpost with integrated clamp, then I am happy!

    Function over form for sure!

  • if you can find the picture of the two guys with the bikes, you'll he's one of em

  • My money is on the dad with the claw.
The son actually is Sam Pepper, ha!

  • This is me not riding my bike the 5gold I have not ridden yet so can't say

I had a different image of you in my head... don't know why.

  • I do have the N Gear jump stop on the bike (the pic was taken 2 years ago). I had dropped the chain a few times, and wasn't keen on messing up all the work put into stripping and polishing the 75 cranks. Fun to put together. Those bars and Ergons have allowed me to keep riding; between nerve issues in my hands and neck/shoulder injurys drops are out of the picture. Gotta gotto work.

    Geared bikes can look simple.

    That is such porn.

  • yep sam pepper ha

  • Just changed my rear wheels , sorry for shitty blackberry pics..

  • Recently finished cheapy conversion. Nothing special(at all!), but it gets the job done while I save up for something good!

Top tube dent, chipped paint, dirty cloth bar tape and cracked, denim stained leather saddle = character...

  • Looks good.

  • Coppi almost done:

I've got a shorter stem coming in, either remove or replace wheel decals, then put on bartape and work out how I can get the lockring onto the hub; I ordered a Gusset converter set (the blasphemy!) which should work with 9/10spd Campa, but can't get the lockring on (the 10spd hub), even though both thread on hub as well as lockring look fine?

Not sure on levers and chainring yet, but can't seem to find a 135bcd 48t roadversion..
Recommendations on pedals? Preferably regular double sided ones.
