Xmas ebay score build. Pennine Marilyn frame, eaarly 60's 531. Rust is a bit worse than the pics show, lots of pitting etc. Will re-chrome the frame in the end, but not yet.
This will be my first fixed build, mostly because i had no other plans for the frame but also to see what all the fuss is about!
Mudguards from my Carlton, may or may not stay. Campy seatpost that ended up costing more than the frame, butchered(crudely) an old b17 i had lying around using Skullys pics as a guide. Laced instead of bolted on the underside. This saddle was truely fucked so any work was an improvement.
Not sure about the Nitto stem, may swap it for the spearpoint GB i have somewhere.
More to come, but not soon as i have no more cash.

Looks like fun. I'm not a massive fan of that tensioner, but that's largely an aesthetic issue. Perhaps you could look into magic gears if you ever manage to have the bike to yourself for a while.
To be honest the choice of tensioner was made for only one reason which was it's price. The thing costed me about 6 quid from ebay :-) It's ugly but it does the job quite well.
I will probably try to find that magic gear sometime:-)

welcome ile, nice conversion. i like that, solution to a problem, bang, done! Only a matter of time until you order that custom frame with track ends eh?
any aspirations to ride fixed or you sticking to single speed for now.
Cheers for the warm welcome Ved :-)
I recently bought a 23" vintage pug premiere in great nick and a pair of flip flop track wheels. for the fixie conversion. I'll post some pix as soon as i get on top of it:-)

Got the frame back from the LBS today. Put some wheels in to get an idea of the geometry. Pretty excited about building this up.

Here is the new track build. I have not quite finished tweaking the set-up but she rides very well, not as harsh as I first thought it may be. Set up for training round RP at the moment.

I think it's coming along alright, so far I've only spent £88, (not including the rear wheel in the pic).
I've even managed to get a 42mm chainline with an old SR chainset and a shimano loose ball BB.
A bits box and Christmas cabin fever hasn't been that unproductive. -

cheers man.
it looks really aggressive, but it's sooooo comfy to ride with the risers on. the riding position is great, it just makes you want to go faster!
it's just set up with pub pedals and gearing at the mo though. -
