Flick... RE: those leader frames.
That's the cheapest one the bay has to offer right? How do you like it?
I'm looking for an ally frame for my next build you see... -

I'm looking for an ally frame for my next build you see...i bought mine a while back so it's not the newest model. It works fine for me, but ugly welds. The new models though have issues with wheel clearance with the seat tube check this pic. Its at the end of the track end but right next to the seat tube.
Maybe see what else is availalbe, they're not as cheap as they used to be.
It does what it's supposed to but i haven't ridden the frame that much. check the forum the pic is from loads of threads about leaders there

that's a terrible bit of design to get the dropout positioning so wrong!

here is my attempt.... (apologies for rubbish photo)
Waiting for rear sprocket and freewheel and it is good to go.

and a chain ;) hope you've got a half-link or an eccentric bottom bracket or rear wheel!
-
• #4308
The dropouts dont look to be vertical to me...
-
• #4309
was thinking exactly the same thing... they're horizontal drops but not the extra long ones... still enough to play with.

• #4310
is it better to not put a split link in your chain when riding a fixed - will not putting a split link in make your chain stronger?
-
• #4311
There is about an inch on the horizontal dropouts, so it should be okay.
I do have a chain :D

+1
waiting for my 5dMkII to arrive... and hoping Canon makes a nice 25p+manual exposure for video firmware upgrade soon.Looking bad on the 25p / manual control front :(
Got my 5D2 a few weeks back, it's quite brilliant even without full manual control, I am using Nikon lenses with a manual aperture rings so that's one control wrestled away from the Canon's autoeverything™.

That is very special. Chater Lea cranks, pedals and hubs. GB spearpoint stem, GB lever.. all top notch stuff. Is there a serial number at all, apart from the Nervex numbers? On the BB or rear drop out? What do you plan to do with it, restoration wise? Looks all original. Just wants a good clean and polish in my opinion.

Hi all,
Happy new year 2009 :-)
Here is my first singlespeed conversion.
The mechs messed up so i deicided to get a few bits and bobs and make it singlespeed
And here it is: Giant OCR in a singlespeed version
For some reason i got a shimano alfine tensioner which works only with 3/32 chains but gives really nice tension and perfect 42mm chainline.
The conversion was really cheap and quite funny diy.
The bike is so much funnier to ride now. The ratio is 39/16. It's smooth and easy to pedal.
Cheers

Nice, conversion,
SS is usually funner than gears,
and do you like live in the Hills somewhere,
39/16 seems awfully spinny. -

I don't live in hills but my wife rides this bike often so that's the reason for 39/16 :-) -

IgorLooks like fun. I'm not a massive fan of that tensioner, but that's largely an aesthetic issue. Perhaps you could look into magic gears if you ever manage to have the bike to yourself for a while.

Yes I am planning to clean and polish the whole bike. I have already regreased the headset and pedals. The hubs and bottom bracket will be done sometime next week then I plan to ride it although the super narrow bars are quite scary.
I'll post some more pics once I get it cleaned up.
