Very smart! Impressed you managed to paint the lugs - not bad for rattle canning. Those old stems with drilling for centre pulls are aces
Cheers! Painted the lugs with a small brush in front of the tv one night. Drilled the old Holdsworth steel stem myself (but didn't hear any puppies yelping) and used a cable adjuster from an old GB brake lever. I'm chuffed with it. Although the 27 x 1 1/4 tyres still look a bit like tractor tyres in my eyes.

I need a little geared help please, is there going to be a huge difference (top speed wise, I know it will give me a better low range) between running the following:
48-36 up front with a 12-25 cassette
and
44-32-22 up front with an 11-25 cassetteThanks very much.
I need the extra range of a triple, but don't want to loose spin out a full whack. Will the extra 1t on the cassette go much way to making up for the loss of 4t up front?

48/12 = 32,1 mph @ 100 rpm
44/11 = 32,1 mph @ 100 rpm
Not much of a difference... -
