  • ^ most confused looking bike I've ever seen!

Agreed! It's an experiment, will evolve (more suitable frame) once I've decided if I want to do more fixed TT's.

Underlying feeling is that if I can scalp a £3k bike + mamil rider or two in a 10 on the above, then I earn a few chest beating priveleges ;)

  • Had to put yellow tires on the Lemond.

    I'm sorry.

  • 650c F&R Lee cooper lo pro.

  • Well done man, I'm glad that frames on the forum. Any ideas of build spec?

Not sure. Was thinking c-record with nice low profile silver rims. Any recommendations?

  • That's such a good colour. That a rat cage in the background?

  • building new road bike.. stealth riding in black for 2011

It's alot nicer in real life. Will try and get some more flattering pics in a few days.

Cage in the background has 2 chinchillas :)

  • Get some in proper daylight. What size is it?
I think I have the same one for my rats.

  • these are pricey but would look pretty dope.

  • meaning it like having the brakepad lightly touched on the rims - you can feel the resistance.

fixed + drum brake will be fine, the combination of a fixed wheel drivetrain and drum brake will be more than enough to stop you.

Thanks for that Ed, useful info. Just one more thing if you don't mind; I've read on another forum that using different levers can have a significant effect on the braking. I would probably prefer to use a Dirty Harry style lever, over perhaps a more sensible old-school mountain bike lever. Have you any experience of/or info on the effect of using that style of lever with the hub brake?

Didn't he say 650 front and rear...?

  • HA, reading fail, read it as frame and fork, though that would still make my post pretty stupid!

    get a zipp

  • Yay for pointless graphics.

    God, aren't they awful!?

  • Dunno if it counts as a current project but new handlebar set-up for the mercian. Planning on a few lengthy rides with it this year so aero levers a must for me. Keeping the b123s for 2011 cycling ambition #2 (which is to get out on the track at last)

    Sorry about shithouse phone pics

  • The Merican look right as rain with the brake hood, I somehow find the ol' dirty harry closed to the stem look quite wrong, that set-up look brilliant.

If you're still experimenting with different bar, have a look at the Randonneur bar, damn comfty with a lovely flat hood as well as a flat drop.

I remember reading that you find legs braking a bit hard work during a long tour? I assumed there's no chance of drilling the rear bridge?

  • ah well, a little too small....

That Venom has a very particular geo, it rides more like a TT frame rather than a track one.
I use 59x59 frames, usually, and was considering that frame when it was here chez moi.

  • My First Fixed™

    Just finished my first build:

1980's Shorter frame (north london builder who supplied alf engers) I took all the braze-ons off just cos i wanted it to look nice and clean, and it was kinda fun... (dont hate me for it, if it was a nicer frame i wouldn't have) all 531 tubing.

Formula hubs on open sport, 36 back, 32 front. gatorskins.

narrow bars, kalloy stem, tange allez headset, acor lever, dia compe single pivot brake, charge plunger grips.

Campagnolo strada cranks, 52-17 ratio, cheap pedals, christophe cages + straps.

freshly sprayed at armourtex, RAL 3003.

still to get reynolds decals and shorter decals.

dont be too harsh, this is my first build and i wanted to get it up and running with available bits..

    thanks for looking!

  • Why do you want to try out Derren Brown's 'magic' trick?

Surely it's just sitting in an icecube for as long as possible?

  • looks like sumo has a challenger for messy photo backgrounds

  • no competition

  • Apparenty he's a 'graffitier', basically a decorator of broken wall and railway bridge.

  • i'll have you know i've only ever graffiti'd on my own property or leech st! I'm no vandal!

also, derren brown wasnt the guy that sat in the ice cube, that was david blaine... but it is a shit book...

  • Nice first build that. Now tidy your room young man!
