It's 700c wheel and the fork is a touch too long (top tube is sloped a bit).

-
• #37604

I know it's lazy, but I've had a brief look and I'm only asking in case someone's got it bookmarked. Has anyone got a link to Chrobin's amazing carbon Obree bike blog?
-
• #37612
yeah, I think it's the head tube angle that's caused it. You might want some forks with less rake.
i dont think that fork has ANY rake
really curious about this bike... -

Thanks Toby - much appreciated

Does not compute. If you're going to get nice wheels, get some nice tyres to go on them. GP4000s are tractor tyres.
Fair point, recommend me the ultimate superbike pimp tyre there is! If I went for a tubular I'd get the Lightweight tubular tyres but I kind of feel like a clincher, want it to be very useable.

It's always a balance between fast and robust, but since Lightweights are race wheels you want a race tyre - Vittoria Open Corsa Evo II or Veloflex Corsa 22.
-
• #37618
Mmm, it probably won't be raced on much, just want the ultimate fast road bike, maybe a more robust wheelset might be more in order than the Lightweight wheels? Do Lightweight Standards have a limited life expectancy?

Out of date there. They're onto Evo II v.3.2.2 now, due to compatibility issues with Rim 4.6 and ValveStem Pro 1.3.7
Think how much less rotating weight they'd be if they didn't have to write all that on the sides...
Introducting the new Vittoria " . "

I think the wheels are pretty tough, as long as you don't hit any dogs, but I wouldn't have carbon brake tracks for a daily driver just because they are a bit iffy in the rain. If you're not going to race, how about a nice Roubaix style wheel, Open Pro Ceramic on Goldtec road hubs? Black CX-Rays to keep the stealth feel, and it knocks about £2k off your build price so it might happen sooner.

• #37621
Or how about Royce hubs?

He'd need Max's black rattlecan to keep to the stealth theme.
There are plenty of hub options, such as Tune, Alchemy, M5, Chris King, Extralite etc.

.....or a pair of Zipps with Alu braking surface.
404 clincher rear
http://www.zipp.com/wheels/404-clincher
with 303 front
http://www.zipp.com/wheels/303-clincherYou could then put those pricey zipp tyres on them. No idea what they're like. But they are at least pricey.

I toyed with suggesting Hed Jets, but the aesthetic advantage of Open Pro Ceramics is the black brake track

High on my list would be the tune based carbon wheels, with the aluminium strands in the braking surface.
Schwarswengerberschi...........
are you sure its a 650c wheel that you are speaking about...?
