Just got hold of this track frame. It's a Bob Jackson made for a shop/rider in Bradford called Paul Milnes.
Made out of Reynolds 531 Competition tubing, has been lying around their workshop for some time, but has never even been built up, never mind ridden!Going to strip it down and spray it up a dark crimson colour with off white stripes and original BJ/Reynolds decals. Then build it up with classic looking parts and have white bar tape and saddle.
Let the fun begin!
MonstaDont paint this!
Paul Milnes decals are much nicer than bj ones anyway.

I reckon a 24mm nut would work if you can run the caliper without the washer between the fork and teh nut on the back of the caliper. At least with the generic Specialized calipers that I have here, the pads just have enough clearance with the forks without the washer/spacer and there'd be maybe 4mm of nut that would reach the caliper. I'm not sure how it would vary caliper to caliper?

4mm of thread engagement is a bit tenuous for my taste, I'd rather see 6mm

Cheers. Yeah, I got a bit carried away after I got it powder coated.
I'm going to run it SS to start with and then try fixed later. Where I live, massive hill with a very busy road at the bottom makes a full brakeset the sensible option.
I actually managed to find a long drop Dia Compe last night so will have it up and running soon.
Edit: Oh yeah and they are the 501 forks, I think they work really well.
Sounds sensible. The orange and black is certainly a winner! Where'd you get the wheels from?
The 501 forks work much better than the hybrid ones did!

Thanks for the offer of the nut but I recon it's going to be a bit short. It will probably reach but only by a couple of mm. Which defo isn't enough. I would rather have 5 or 6mm. Will put in some calls tomorrow. Just fitted my Thomson post too and it looks lame.

seems such a shame to repaint when the paint is in such good nick.
I don't get the whole repainting according to builder thing - seems quite a few do it.
The Paint Job looks good in the pictures, but actually has quite a few chips in it around the place and the decals are coming off. Personally I think the paintjob is terrible (just not my taste) even though it is done well. It's not like it's an old vintage jobby, so I don't really feel bad about doing it to my own tastes.
They gave me some extra "Paul Milnes" decals, maybe I could stick them back on it, but I don't know anything about them.

Yeah, and that's eyeballing it with a ruler held to the forks. I'll call my lbs tomorrow and depending on what they have to offer, it'll be one of these: http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/problem-solvers-xl-caliper-brake-mounting-bolt-for-carbon-thick-nut-each-prod18239/

£6 postage...maybe not!
-
• #36488
call them and get them to post it in an envelope with a stamp on...
that said when i ordered spokes and a hub, they deserved the £6 just for the work of art packing job they did!

I like to see bar plugs, especially on bullhorns, as it's selfish to go on the streets without them.
Saying that...What brake mount system is that? Ive got one of the dia-compe keirin ones on my Aende but its a pain in the ass and keeps moving about/scratching my headset

Regarding the Look
I cant remember if it was in this thread or another i mentioned it, but back in the summer, i was in a Look dealer in France, where they told me they would be selling a pure track version built up, and a street version with brakes.

• #36491
Well we ordered the fixie version, and this is what came. And I don't want a rear brake. I do however want a front brake. Hence the whole conversation about the bolt. It's such a simple thing but such a pain. Also, the Thomson seatpost is growing on me. A bit.

What brake mount system is that?
I think Scorch can tell you.
But if it touches your head set or not may depend on the length of the fork blades too. -
• #36493
You're not sure why? perhaps it's because of the fact that it's ugly?
Jesus! That BMC is a weapon! Id ride that over just about anything.

Wow!!! The Slug, that looks awesome (said in best American accent). Really very nice for what was meant to be a beater! Are those the 501 forks? Do you need front and rear brakes if it is going to be fixed?
Sounds sensible. The orange and black is certainly a winner! Where'd you get the wheels from?
The 501 forks work much better than the hybrid ones did!
Yeah, I love it. The wheels are from Varno, 40mm Pegasus on Novatech hubs.

Finally finished my Ikea bike rack. Whatever you do, choose alu tubing NOT steal!
It was an absolute nightmare to drill thru.

On the upside, there's still enough space for another bike. Altho I think I need to get a step ladder.

On the other hand, stealing it is cheaper than buying.
Looks like the 464s are typical of Taiwanese frames and get random running changes to small details.
I've got a 24mm brake nut going begging, but that's probably not enough if you reckon you need 30mm. I haven't tried my fork to see what brake fitting would be like, since mine is for track only.
