  • My 464 (fixie skidder version) has the drilled fork, but also a drilled bridge at the rear. It's more like a pilot hole than an actual drilling though; you'd still have to drill it out to be able to mount a caliper on there.

Toppers, where are you getting a long brake bolt from? I need one and the internet seems to thrown up £7+p&p...bit steep for a nut, no?

Edit: Mine also came with a full set of brake cables and clips to hold the rear cable.

  • hmmm there doesn't appear to be a hole in the rear bridge either...

  • Just got hold of this track frame. It's a Bob Jackson made for a shop/rider in Bradford called Paul Milnes.
Made out of Reynolds 531 Competition tubing, has been lying around their workshop for some time, but has never even been built up, never mind ridden!

Going to strip it down and spray it up a dark crimson colour with off white stripes and original BJ/Reynolds decals. Then build it up with classic looking parts and have white bar tape and saddle.

    Let the fun begin!

  • I was going to tap up the mechanic at my lbs and see if he has one kicking around the workshop. He usually has random shut like that. Failing that I'll phone fishers and ask where the fuck the one that should have come with it is?? Hopefully it'll cost me nothing. As a last resort, I'll have to foot the bill for one. Shimano do them (27mm) for about £4.50.
Rear bridge is defo not drilled. The fishers rep told me the track one should have no brake holes at all.

  • Just got hold of this track frame...

    Very pretty frame!

  • I just double checked to make sure that there were none in with the brake cables and stuff that came with it, but there isn't. Did everyone else get some bar tape? Strange thing I thought to include with a frame.

    Very pretty frame!

Thanks guys, really lucky to get this I think!
Bough a 60cm Holdsworth to do up, then about 4 days later saw this in a 59cm for £180 I think so had to grab it. It's really really light actually, much lighter than the Holdsworth which is standard 531 tubing.

  • Good price. I'd have bought it too. Look forward to seeing it built.

  • No cables, brake bolt or bar tape. When did you get yours?

  • Jamie, the frame look pretty decent and is in good nick (as far as I can see), and have Reynolds 531 so we know it's a decent frame.

measure it (centre of bottom bracket to top) and measure the top tube length too (centre to centre), you'll find a buyer here for that size, I says £50-75 top.

Thank you! Someone I know has offered to buy it so unless he can't pay that much I will :)

  • I just got mine last week from Cyclelane.co.uk.

I also got the bike cover, the folder thing, spacers and spare drop out plates, but I saw they were listed as coming with the frame from velodromeshop.co.uk.

  • Yeah got the cover and stuff, but not cables and stuff. Mine was ordered about a month ago and had been at the shop ever since. I think it was one of the last of that batch so maybe they've changed it a bit. Who knows. Wasn't going to run a rear brake anyway. Just annoying I can't fit my front brake yet. Hey ho.

  • Sanddancer any chance you could pm me a pic of your rear stays ( which by the way sounds wrong).

seems such a shame to repaint when the paint is in such good nick.

I don't get the whole repainting according to builder thing - seems quite a few do it.

  • Posted here, just in case anyone else might me interested.

This is the bridge/stays with a caliper for hole size comparison purposes. I'll not be drilling it out; only planning on running a front brake.

That is the part you wanted to see, right?

  • yeah cheers. its defo different to mine though. strange they havent drilled it out fully though.

  • also, I second that tear. bmc shouldn't be drilled. suppose it balances up the much reported fragility of the back end up front.

    Go on then, cry like a man, I dare you;

    It weight sweet fuck-all.

  • sanddancer, have your forks got a carbon steerer.? i dont like that BMC. not sure why? but im not keen.

  • You're not sure why? perhaps it's because of the fact that it's ugly?

  • dont lie now, Ed.

  • Yep, carbon steerer. Is the bridge different or just the fact that it has the hole?

I was actually toying with the idea of getting a BMC, even to the point of calling Evans to check stock levels. I love the look of the frame, but I want a front brake and really wouldn't trust a hole just drilled through forks that were never intended to have a brake on them, and I think the BMC fork is ugly. It was an awful lot of money to pay to start with; add in the cost of a decent carbon fork that takes a brake and it was silly money. That combined with the horror stories, particularly when using it on the street put me off completely.

At least the Look seems to have some sort of reenforcement for mounting a caliper.

  • maybe yeah.

  • the bridge on mine looks about the same, and has a hole. it just runs from top to bottom in line with the stays, not in line with the rim as on yours.

  • Aero is my middle name. I feel a bit like velodrome ninja.
