Apologies if you've already told us, but what spokes are you using?
Might of forgotten to mention, I think it was discussed in the Spokes thread the other week. I went with ACI double butted, as they were recommended by others on LFGSS, and in my price range :)

ACI are fine, ignore the haters.

Awesome! Like I say, I think he's a bit miffed I didn't get him to build the wheel or whatever. I mean, fuck, he's a 10 mile ride away (not actually my LBS anymore).

I brought this this evening. Apologies for the shit picture as it was on the camera phone. It doesn't quite meet my requirements of something that I can put guards and rack on for the winter... I am glad that I decided against the on-one (which fit my needs perfect), glad that the twat at Bob Jackson's was so rude on the phone earlier that there is no way I would spend money there, glad that my back was playing up today so I caught the tube to work and randomly got off early to wander up to Brick Lane to see if they had anything that caught my fancy... I have a rough idea of what bits to build her up with - it's going to be fun!

I will make some proper pics once i have the new front wheel

I am building up a road frame as a 7 speed flat bar commuter bike.
Anyone got any suggestions for a good groupset? I was thinking of using sram x3 but can't find the rear derailleur in medium cage anywhere. I want thumb shifters but don't want a long cage derailleur. Anyone done something similar or got anything to sell?

Could use paul thumbies if it comes down to it - you can use them with any indexed downtube shifters and groupset, but they're a bit pricey i think.

Hello all - from New Hampshire (USA)
I recently finished the lifetime spruce up of my Viner Special Professional. I do say restore because it is set up as a freewheel SS and the 105 brakes are an upgrade. I found this bike in a relatives barn - the paint was badly gone but the bike is a marvel.
I found an acrylic paint that matched the original pretty much exactly. My friend Charlie sandblasted, sanded, epoxy primered, painted, sanded.
I got a the decal kit off Ebay - take note of the OEM Viner bar tape with Viner embossed into the tape. Very cool.
With pedals, ready to ride - 18.09 lbs.
The shop guys polished every piece and reassembled the bike with pride.I am not sure if this is the right forum for this but I wanted to share.
This is my winter bike - it will be ridden. Thanks for looking.
