I'll mostly be using it round town, there'll be bits of off road riding but nothing meaty. Like the idea of getting some hefty tyres, I'll look into it.

Max i had some of those Tifosi forks and they were pretty bulletproof - however i don't think that they are going to make any noticeable difference to the weight of the bike, as they have an alloy steerer - to make any real weight saving on the dale, i would have though only a carbon steerer is going to do the trick due to the size of the bike, but i woyuldnt want to use a carbon steerer for couriering me self

You have the same blue jean problem with your white rolls as me. very nice build.
yep...the blue rub off is just so fashionable though...it says 'hey man I ride in my got damn jeans'..! Ah but what jeans...Levi, one true saxon, evisu, cavalli, polo...?
Hahaha -

Max, get a proper 1" carbon fork, cheaper than the Wound Up too I suspect.

Or for the more budget conscious, I can personally attest to the strength of these....
£88 from Kinetic -On-one.

I'd prefer to have a carbon steerer as it would absorb a crash better than an alu steerer, and thus reduced the chance of the frame getting damaged.
it's all theory of course.

It's not my Bat I just supplied Owen Jowett with the frame, soz I should have quooted to avoid confusion. So these two questions/ comments are aimed at Owen:

I think you might fins the reality rather different

Finished the bike off today once the grips arrived :)

And I love that it can go down to a low pressure (20psi), super comfty.
Surely running tyres at a pressure that low will give you utterly wank handling?
I can also see it incurring masses of resistance, as well as fat tyres adding rolling weight... -

your left brake lever is in the right and the right in the left... minor detail but....

@mancronnie, max needs a threaded fork.

Haven't done this for a while, so...
Day-to-day..Gitane superpista with ofmega, miche+rigida

Always regretted selling that frame!

I thought the fork was needed to permit an upgrade to threadless

You might be wrong for at least two different reasons. First, a carbon steerer is usually both stiffer and stronger than an aluminium one, and second that a monocoque carbon fork doesn't have the weak joins at the fork crown which are usually the first thing to go when you crash a hybrid fork.

I never realised there was any difference between the levers. What is the difference?

I was under this impression too...
How common are 1" threaded carbon forks anyway? -

that the screw is showing in the top of the clamp
oh Ed :)
