So much better, I'm sure you can do the same on your Cannondale roadie.

This fork...
Oh and of course the black Chris King headset off my track bike (same as one in Wound Up pic) will be going on the road bike.If I had Photoshop on this computer I'd even do a mockup by pasting the parts onto this photo... (Lame)

and new road ride.. Batavus pro (originally from tel) with centaur 10sp group + openpros
http://img227.imageshack.us/img227/7489/batpro.jpgThey all need a clean, raleigh needs a back mech and matching tyres and some mudguard solutions® needed for the lot.

Decided to keep the Eddy Mercxk put the dura ace group from the Colnago on it and changed the fork from quill to ahead with a kinesis fork.

It's not really that I don't like track cranks, I just love UltraTorque, and the Mirage and Veloce ones are very cheap, especially now that they are discontinued and shops are clearing stock. Complete chainset including BB, Goldtec ring and the machine work comes to about £120, against around £250 for Record, DuraAce or SG75. Also, have you actually ridden external bearing cranks? The massive increase in stiffness over square taper might not actually make you faster, but it certainly feels like it should. Finally, I now have UltraTorque on all 5 of the bikes which get any serious use, so I get a consistent Q-Factor right across the fleet, which is nice.
+1. ExBB on all my bikes. Even got rid of the old sq taper on my runaround:
£32 - http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=29216Had an old Hollowtech2 BB lying around and also had a use for the rings that came with it. Bargain.

What're you doing to the trackonndale?

Current ss project: old, no name commuter/mtb, possibly a low end raleigh or something similar but was given it and have never known what it is (or cared tbh). Converted the old geared freewheel to SS but I really need to get a cog with deeper teeth so the chain sits better.
After breathing some life into it I'm starting to love her again. Here's some pics of the story so far...

put massive tyres on, Schwalbe Fat Frank FTW!
-
• #34795
Schwalbe Big Apple FTW!
ftfy.
Big Apples are fast on the road and adequate on any off road rides which are likely to be tolerable on a low-end rigid bike.
-
• #34796
The Big Apple look slicker than the Fat Frank, how would that's better for any off road rides?
-
• #34797
They are slicker, they're not as good off-road, but look at the bike; do you think it's going to be doing any serious off-roading? Big Apples look like a better compromise, unless the owner corrects my assumptions about where he'll be riding.

I'm tyred.

+1 for the big apples
great road tyre super quick, loadsa grip around corners
Good enough to bring to a skatepark and fair pretty well on dirt. -

And I love that it can go down to a low pressure (20psi), super comfty.
25psi seemed idea for London, low enough for general, but not too low for a pothole to dented the rims.
Good reasons! I like your logic.
I've never ridden external bearing cranks so can't comment. From what I can imagine, yeah they must be much lighter/stiffer...
