  • Run that drilled G40 rim tubeless!

  • there are a few trials rims which are drilled like that.

whether it will work at 100+ psi is another story.

    Yeah, that's my query.

  • Run that drilled G40 rim tubeless!

Can you run a clincher with a tub? or do you mean get one of those clinchers tubs

...and is your logic that the pressure from the tub will make it stronger, or just that when/if it fails its safer?

    I take issue with this.

First, an old mtb with slicks is never the practical choice.

Second, how is a track frame not pratical for nippin round London (note forum title)?

My longest regular commute has been 20min (40min round trip). High BB gives you good visability (esp. if you used risers - which I don't, but still), you only really need 1 gear = limited maintainace, light (ok not the visp), quick acceleration - you're always limited by lights/traffic, few parts to steel... etc... etc... etc.

It's all about the right tool for the job.

Old MTB has high BB, risers, only one gear if you ghetto-SS it "... etc... etc... etc." and the most expensive part of the whole project is likely to be the tyres, since you can buy old steel rigid MTBs for peanuts. Doesn't matter how few parts your track bike has, it's still a bigger loss if you've spent £100 on a hub and somebody nicks the whole bike.

No, I mean tubeless clinchers like Hutchinson.
Wonder if these would work with unauthorized tubeless kits with special flaps / rim tapes.
    More joking than being serious.

Most/all of this can be applied to a road conversion. The issue was track frames

(not that I care for this discussion, just pointing it out before it goes any further)

  • Agree with most of the above. My point was practical is realative to the job.

  • Almost finished my first build. Just awaiting arrival of bar tape, brake lever, straps and super record seat post. Thanks to everyone on here who answered all my simple questions. Will post some better pictures when completed.

  • Cheap ebay purchase, old track frame from Herne Hill, fork slightly bend but appear to be fine, got spare track fork anyway (27" wheels), got 700c CXP 14 on at the moment.

Just took the Clements to it's maiden voyager, handle really lovely especially with the lightweight 30c tyres, need longer stem, lower saddle a bit and then put on some grip.

coaster hubs squeak when applying pressure, doesn't inspired confident, probably don't have much grease in it.

I don't know.. My pump doesn't work at 100+ psi (tend to prefer my tyres a bit soft) so I guess we'll see! :D

  • Yes Ed! The Clemants is hot. Whatcha got planned for griptape?

  • VO leather tape?

  • pukes on nuknow

    I'm hoping for black cloth

  • Actually it'll be wrapped with normal cork tape first, and then cotton tape on top, give the comfort of cork with the lovely feel of cotton.

the bar probably going to get replaced by a Cinelli Priest though.

It's Ed, what are you on about!?

  • Swapped the drops out on the BJ, as I wanted a nicer cruising position. The new bull bars work brilliantly. Done a couple 100km rides on them, and am sold (need a longer brake cable though).

  • sort that shed out man!

  • is that a dead tiger in there?

  • I had some nice shiny carbon bits turn up today. Love the Planet X sale.

  • needs drops.

  • fuck drops

  • sort that shed out man!

It's a 2500 ltr parafin tank, with a lean to for fire wood (and big game).

It's full of crap, because the work room is full bikes ;)

  • fuck drops

shame, I really like it but think drops would finish it nicely
