coming from someone with the username Regal, I'm not surprised you said that.

Is it a cannondale road frame?

You got me there.
I have that same Regale / Regal-e / REGALe / whatever on my road bike and I love it. For me it's even better than the standard Regal, irrespective of the weight weenie gram-saving.

same, it's got less curve on it. I only bought it for the looks and cos I like the original Regal. Never seen anyone else with one though. Maybe cos it's like £130 in shops.

... or because it's a bit ugly and has practically zero padding? ;)
Yeah, it's a bit leaner around the thighs as well, which I like.

yup.
cannondale 1987 road bike.
older than max, but an excellent vintage, imo.
just the right old. -

Padding can get to fuck. Just wear lycra.
I'm glad Max got that road cannondale, its just a shame someone beat him to rattle-canning it. -
• #33909
It's already an ugly colour? Convenient.

Oh yeah. Suits me fine. I just meant that might put some people off in a shop.

I did, on his behalf.
He doesn't have an eBay account yet - He's not old enough.

This is what I've been doing yesterday, drilling 64 holes in an old Mavic G40 rim, spraypainting it black and countersinking the holes to get that machined look. Shaved 30 grams off the weight of the rim. Question is though, would you still ride it? Not sure if I should.. Thinking of building it with non drive side radial if one of the old wheels I have has the correct spoke length.

Would rim tape work with holes that big?

Couple of new projects on the go. My girlfriends BSA has been going strong for year now but it's time for a tidy up and a new look. Mudguards, Brooks saddle, basket and a new paint job on the way + she's going fixed.
Also just Acquired this Raleigh Volant for £10. It's pretty battered but it'll make a nice fixed gear winter hack.
Anyone know when these were made? It's got Exage 500 Ex groupset if that helps.the_life_pursuit that Bob Jackson is sooo rad. Always hated those side walls on Gators but they work so well on that. Best bike I've seen in ages.

ftfy.
You could have sold a decent G40 for more money than a new Open Pro CD.

Oh wait
you could buy a normal size bike and have your own bmx.

Well it wasn't decent, faded braking surface and rusty eyelets. Too much hassle to stick it on eBay, catch a couple of quid if I'm lucky and spend pretty much all of that money on an other rim to drill holes in.
I think the rim tape will work, the holes are 10mm diameter and I got a 15mm rim tape, which is an exact fit on the rim. Mountainbikers have been drilling their rims since the beginning of time, and MTBs tend to get abused a lot worse than my fixed bikes. But still I'm a bit wary.. -

there are a few trials rims which are drilled like that.
whether it will work at 100+ psi is another story.

My Pearson Touche got nicked. I guess I shouldn't have put that flashy Brooks saddle on it. And perhaps have locked it better. Anyhow, to fill the void, I've decided to build up my own bike for the first time and am getting a titanium frame from Lynskey Performance in the U.S.
Next up, I'm thinking what wheels to get. Hopefully by the time the frame is ready I will be able to afford them.

Seem to remember some off the shelf drilled BMX rims the 80's with pretty large holes so you could use fancy coloured rim tapes to do the complete colour match with the fashion of anodising every part of the bike that could be anodised!
Save the saddle first though.
