Just put a deposit down on a Surly LHT frame and fork. My plan is to build it up as a commuter for now, with the option to change the components over and head out on my holidays on it when I can.
nice one. what size wheels did you opt for?

If it means that much to you, i'll get Max to yak a kebab over it next week.
So thoughtful.....

That looks like serious fun! Is it twitchy or does it handle well? What frame is it?
It handles surprisingly well, went out on the road for the first time last night. I think the low centre of gravity helps, and the wide rear wheel means the tyr is stretched out very wide.

Some of you may have seen the photos of the fixed gear conversion of my late 70’s 531 frame that I recently posted. Well today was my first commute on my old new baby and it was great! The fixed wheel will take a little getting used to (but I had no real issues) and using traditional toe clips is an art that I have long since forgotten, but the real surprise was the frame! Now this is not a particularly expensive frame, but compared to my normal stead (a Focus Merzula oversized aluminium triple touring bike) the steel bike is LUSH! Previously I had been very sceptical about the old school’s veneration of this out of date medium (Sic). However, whilst I know it’s only been one ride, I think I have already been converted - Steels Real guys! Anyone know where I can buy a pipe and some long Jacquard socks?

700c, because I'm getting a 62cm and they look well silly with the 26". Plus I don't think I'll be retreating too far off the beaten track when I'm heading off on the hols.

Real small pic, but the clearances look ridiculously tight!

Here is my (nearly finished) first ever build, after riding an OTP fixed wheel for a while.
Things that I'm planning on doing :
Adding Black, or black/purple camo bar tape.
Matching front tyre.
Possibly changing pedals to smaller chrome ones (yellows were off my old MTB). (and adding straps)
Getting a white pump for the pump holders.I'm also thinking of adding some black decals on the bottom tube. Maybe sticking with just RALEIGH (as that's what the frame is). Any thoughts of decals more than welcome.

Hi. Here is my new ride.
Took my time to build it up, but it's ready now. Very happy with the bike. Just two things i could think of that are missing, chain tugs and double straps/toeclips, otherwise it feels really nice.

Nice. I'm liking the thin seatstays.
My new just finished project. Borrowed saddle and wheels for now until I manage to save up some more cash! so still work in progress. Cant wait to try it out on the track.
