Can't get the gears on my Gazelle right at all. I blame this place for making me want to change everything all the time.
Every now and again the chain seems to get caught in the rear derailleur pulling the whole thing toward the crank(same as how you would make the chain slack), it's driving me potty, amongst other things.
Could the derailleur be knackered, or the chain perhaps? the jockey wheels look a bit chewed but nothing major.

the chain too short?

There must be something wrong with that Colnago... For some reason we have seen two photos of it and none from the right side..
I think it's has a Dotek-brand right side crank.. :)

I'm posting on behalf of my cousin who own this bike. When Hilary put the frame up on sale here in April, I saw the thread and immediately know that my cousin would love to have it. After knowing the international postage price, we decided to go for it. While waiting for the frame to arrive we also bought several parts from here and Ebay to build it up. The project just finished the other day after all the parts had arrived.
This is the pic that Hilary put on the for sale thread. Pinarello c1978.
Here are the pics of the finished project. The groupset is Campagnolo Chorus c1990-1991 with vintage Brooks Team Pro.

Wasn't sure, so I assumed the lower groupset. Sorry.
I have this vague memory of reading somewhere 88/89 Camagnola Chorus and Athena shared some parts .. front mech, seatpin I recall? ie they just made Chorus and Record parts in these items! Sure someone will clarify my ramblings.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy your Colnago and .. keep it period please

Upload the picture to Flickr and link it. Or email it to your computer.
Btw, that Pinarello looks lovely even it's not a period restoration. More functional this way, but still has it's charm.

Another bike porn image of my cousin's bike.
Would have to ask him the whole cost of the project but I would guess around 600-700 pounds. A period restoration might be on the card. But Super Record would cost him a lot more. Need to wait and see whether he would go for that.

if you dont mind me asking to point me in the direction of said conservation tips - stopping rust etc -not had much luck myself finding complete trustworthy info.
cheers
Claud Butler 1951 New Allrounder. Almost ready to assemble. I'm waiting for the seatpost and sprocket. My first intention was to repaint the frame. Some guys from bikeforums.net persuaded me to safe and conserve the original painting. At first I stopped the rust. Then I experimented with some self made outlandish mixtures... Finally I used acrylic to restore the sanded areas and a self made pigmented wax to harmonize the different surfaces: rusty spots and areas, primer and top coat. It gaves the painting also a fine gleam.

Shorter stem looks more manageable, but LA84s really aren't supposed to be used in that position. If you need the drop, try something else. If you need the reach, try cut LA84s with a long stem.
Frame is too small for me so I just putt the bars in a way I liked it XD
I know they are 'supposed' to be cut! Same goes for the saddle, can't adjust it
to my body so just putt it in a way I liked it haha. Valve gap will be covered
and I find it a shame the photographer didn't putt the wheel right.. Thanks for
the feedback! -

what happened to the DA cranks?
He has to make at least one pointless change every week to keep the project current
You and me both mate, last bike was a run of the mill simplex 531 generic jobbie.
