  • one photo of the new bike

Robin has better ones with the bike in full finishing kit, at present have toupe on there and black saddle

Looks sweet man. Really, really nice.

what happened to the DA cranks?

Prefer square taper so traded them for some 75's with the seller (M-X).

  • ^Haha.

@dancing james, that Mather looks awesome. I want a Ti bike sooo bad. Ridden a few recently and they are, for me, the best material from which to make a road bike.

  • He has to make at least one pointless change every week to keep the project current

    Neg repped... :-)

  • Why do you prefer sq. taper?

    What rims are those?

  • Ceramic open pro rims

  • Ceramic open pro rims

Damn, they're the expensive ones right, like 80 quid a pop?

  • Why do you prefer sq. taper?

Simpler, less to go wrong, more compatibility options...

  • Typo

should have been black pedals at present

full finish is white pedals and poss white ti swallow saddle

  • Tart alert!

Bike looks sweet, DJ. I bet it rides even better than it looks.

So far this bike has had a lot of cranks.

    Sugino 75 (165)
    Campag C-Record Pista
    Dura Ace 7710
    Sugino 75 (170)

Saddle needs moving forward 5-10mm as I currently have it adjusted slightly further back for the risers I had on there before. This will happen tomorrow morning.

    What size is the frame?
I'd heard it was big but that looks crazy big.
If i compare it to my 60cm Capo (an undeserving comparison i know, im sorry) it must be more than 65cm?

  • 74.5

  • Ha, it's an effective 66cm (sloping TT), but measures centre of BB to top of seatclamp - 68.5cm.

  • in other words , if your not max or flickwig, youll never reach the pedals..:)

    Fuck me!
So it's actually taller than it is long!
    Craaaazy!

  • if you dont mind me asking to point me in the direction of said conservation tips - stopping rust etc -not had much luck myself finding complete trustworthy info.

    cheers

I use Fertan, a tannic solution. You can try Corroseal. It's probably the same.

Ahh no I meant the seat tube is effectively 66cm, due to the fact the top tube slopes down towards the front of the bike, follow me?

    The top tube is 61cm.

  • but what is the effective TT?

  • 66cm effective seat tube and 61cm toptube still means it's taller than it is long.

Like the anti-theseis of modern trick track frames.

  • effective ST, hmmm.

  • The seat tube would be 66cm c-t-t if the top tube was level. It's lowest point (at the headtube) is the height it would be all the way across.

Effective TT is about 59cm I think, due to the geometry of the frame. All I know is it fits me nicely.

  • Someone talk to me about front racks. I'm thinking about getting one. Front fork is drilled for a front brake, no eyelets/bosses though. I've looked at the Cetma, Hembrow and Velo Orange offerings. Is that as good (by that I mean cheap) as it gets?

  • @ Max, all that matters, you going to wests on thursday?

  • @ Wools, PM edscoble probably the best idea.

  • He has expensive tastes though. :)
