actually on second look it could just be a sports team flag...
but who knows, maybe you should've pm'ed his name if you didn't want someone to look him up.
instead of getting worked up over spilt milk created by yourself.

The milk race frame would be a nice restoration project. I'd remove any rust and have it resprayed with the same design. Then build it back up geared, with roughly the right period parts. Without getting too OCD about it and spending loads.
Would make a nice road bike, but would'nt be such a nice fixie skidder (IMHO).
....and posting personal pics and stuff found elsewhere is a bit out of line deletes redtube account.

+1 this is a good point, but if it's for sentimentality and due to the history of your cousin winning it then I guess it doesn't matter. They look pretty cool when they were new
Yeah but I think we are all getting hints that this will be powder coated and loaded with a spok & deepV combo. Eliminating the only real value of the frame, the sentimental/kitsch thing.

nah mate..i would like to keep it original looking..i was open for suggestions and most people seem to be saying to keep it geared..i like eds idea about trying to find a old road bike from the same period and swapping the parts over.. -

Is it the right size for you? It looks quite small.
If you were getting a road bike to switch parts from which was actually a better fit it would be a bit pointless.

i think it was a family fun thing..i know there was a serious part of it that more professional riders participated in..and yes..i think the last race was in 1990..he was young..i will ask him when he gets back and hopefully he will be able to shed more light on it

I fit a 57 and tried riding a 54 because it was a bargain and I convinced myself it would be ok. It wasn't
If I had spent £500 I would be annoyed.
I think you could make it up into a geared bike for under £200 and it would still look pretty.

If it's your first new build, it may be a bit demoralising if when its all done and lovely you cant ride it.
you might on the other hand get real pleasure from sentimental reasons. but yeah, carboot/ebay for the bike donor. keep it pretty cheap, get your hands dirty and see what you think.

http://static.lfgss.com/attachments/24788d1273613200-shimano1.jpgJust need a crankset and some cable guides and I'm away.
I'm thinking of going to town on the components and making them uber-shiney. What's the best method? White spirit then Brasso?
