Hi MatP,
I'm Tomity,Hi from Tokyo!!
I know Mr.Inamura that your frame printed name.
I know Mr. Inamura, former owner of your frame. His name is Narihiro Inamura.
It is his profile though it is Japanese. (http://babelfish.yahoo.com/)
http://keirin.jp/pc/dfw/dataplaza/guest/membprofile?SNO=012500He is famous Keirin rider that has participated in the 2000 Sydney Olympics games.
He becomes a Japanese champion of Keirin and has the title of a lot of races. He acquired the bronze medal(tandem sprint:amateur) by world cycling championships that had been held in Japan in 1990.
His frame is very expensive and valuable. He is using the frame of other brands now. He had used KALAVINKA before.
His father also had a lot of big title with famous Keirin rider. (Already retired. )His younger brother is a strong rider of Keirin.Mr.Yoshinobu Inamura
http://keirin.jp/pc/dfw/dataplaza/guest/membprofile?SNO=013400It is very lucky that you owned this frame. Moreover, it is a brand of NAGASAWA.
I am looking forward to the completion of your bike.

We cant be that fussy/specific, its his bike, he bought it. Id set it up to look pretty close to the standard keirin look if it were mine (skinwall tyres, kashimax seat etc). But with road stem/bars.
I accept each to their own, we cant be too snobby. But oury's on the top of deep drops on a bike too big, just looks quite frankly, shit.
1+ it's his bike after all, he already drop £700 on the frame.

Thanks for all the comments!, negative and positive!!
As you can see, its just a picture of progress!! I am waiting for a Black Nitto post!, the post is just pushed in at the minute! I'm 6' 3". There is not Oury grips on the bars, they are champ grips and there is another pair to go on the drops. Not Velocity rims either, but wheelset from previous bike, so will have to make do at minute, due to me not being rich!!
Big thanks again to Tomity.

Also the frame obviously doesn't fit you, the seatpost is far to low.
Why is the seatpost far too low. For a conventional frame style a fist full of seatpost is about right and that looks about it (especially with a high profile saddle).

have at look at the difference between bar hight and saddle hight on his bike.
No have a look at the picture of the proffesional keirin racer a few posts above. See the difference between a perfectly fitting bike and an ill fitting bike? -

I inherited from my Uncle so it's not really a 'current project'.
Alright Dan, I likes this! Even though everyone's getting very hot under the collar about setting up a Nag in the right way, it shouldn't pass under the radar. Position doesn't look too aggressive, camera trickery or not - are you sure it's the right size for you? Is the riding position a new thing too? Takes a bit to get used to. What're the rims wheels combo?

No have a look at the picture of the proffesional keirin racer a few posts above. See the difference between a perfectly fitting bike and an ill fitting bike?Yes, I can see the difference between bar and saddle height and it is absolutely fine. (although the owner has stated it is not setup yet it would be fine if it fitted him as it was)
And you can't compare one persons perfect setup to another (especially a track race bike setup for short distances!)
Are you suggesting that all bikes should have the same amount of seat post showing and same saddle to bar drop irrespective of riders physique?

Hi OCDC, I'm not too sure about the frame being the right size, I'm 6ft 2in and it's a 58 cm frame which doesn't sound too far out. Position is new (HTFU time?)
re the wheels - the rims are made by super champion and have 'competition' written on the sticker. The hubs are campagnolo record track hubs - Uncle stuck a shimano bmx freewheel on the back to convert to ss

Oh right, Wolber Super Champions I think those wheels are. Nice looking anyhow, suit the bike well. Position wise, geometry isn't always standard, depending on the length of the top tube / down tube and the shape of you. I look like a spindly giraffe but with short legs so your bike would probably suit me perfectly. Try going to your LBS with it and get measured up if you're unsure.

I want to go to Japan and check out one of these races!
Why do we not see more success from Japanese riders on an international level?
-
• #27668
oh god that Nagasawa is being butchered. Grips on top of the bars? Seriously?
Also the frame obviously doesn't fit you, the seatpost is far to low.
Whats with the lacing for the front rim? Because it's certainly not cross 4.why the fok are you freaking out? he hasnt even finished it yet

Why do we not see more success from Japanese riders on an international level?
This has the qualities of an FAQ. As with anything suspicious, it requires an examination of means, motive and opportunity.
Means:
Are the attributes of a top Japanese Keirin rider easily transferable to an event contested at World Championship level?
Do any Japanese riders have the physique to take on athletes of Northern European and African ancestry?Motive:
If rising to medal level in international competition requires the sacrifice of at least a couple of seasons of Keirin racing, and given the uncertainty of success, is the prestige associated with World level success sufficient to generate additional income to replace the earnings lost by missing the Keirin racing?Opportunity:
Competition at World level is all but impossible without financial support from either your sporting association or commercial sponsors. Is either of these parties in Japan willing to invest in such a project? -

Surely Shimano, Sugino or Araya could foot the bill as a matter of national pride.
Get a national team and training/recruiting programmes.
They already have the odd rider at world champ/olympic keirin but Ive never seen them win. (have only watched track racing a few times)
The (malaysian?) guy that pops wheelies seems to be on a equal physical ability as even Mr Hoy, just not as good at tactics.

^ ss or fg? what are those brake levers? are they self-made?

They are businesses, they aren't going to do anything for National pride, only for money. Shimano already has a full program of team and equipment sponsorship across the big money areas of road, MTB and BMX, but they support the best athletes regardless of nationality.
The JKA Foundation already spent their promotional budget bribing the UCI and IOC to get Keirin into World and Olympic championships :-)

SS, They're Weinmann brakes
I built the wheels with a 3leading 3trailing pattern (26 inch narrow rigida rims, on one hubs), saddle and tape are charge
Rides really nice and although it's not a quality 531 frame it's still quite light and strong.Oh yeah and total cost was £150 including original bike. not bad eh!

handlebar advice
I currently have race face credence bars on my town fixed bike, these are quite comfy but a little flexy
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=17962
am considering the revolution bars for the road bike, as similar shape etc
was wondering if there is anything else around the £50 mark that might be appropriate with similar shape etc
Need new bars for the current build, am considering
I'm going to butcher this tomorrow. It takes too long to turn it into what it supposed to be - I'll stick on risers, short Cinelli stem and run it fixed while the weather is nice.
I have to rebuild the rear wheel, have the 16H 8 spd hub, Croce d' Aune cranks, Chorus pedals, seatpost and gears, Delta brakes and a blue Benotto "sellotape".
