  • The Revolution bars will be more flexy than the Cadence, since the heavier bar obviously has thicker walls.

  • James, try out some compact bars. Fahking comfy IMO:

  • ^ Reading that about a pair for my road bike, FSAs the best choice?

wouldn't that absorb more road shock making it more idea for everyday riding?

Possibly, but DJ seemed to complaining about too much flex

  • whoop, misses that part!

  • i was worried that ed was going to suggest some racks and a moustache handlbar

    so mdcctester

my bars just creak around a little (have used torque wrench to set them up) when sprinting and grinding up hills

am assuming on a road bike that i wont actually be putting so much force into the bars, so do you think the revolution would be better? esp if the bike is really for long distances

is there anything else similar you'd suggest?

  • Creak where they are attached to the stem? Take everything apart and give it a good clean. I had that for about a week on my road bike and it drove me mad.

That's a stem problem, not a bar flex problem. Get a Pro Vibe Track stem, that should sort it out.

  • Will she ride it?

And give all contact surfaces some grease before rebuild.

  • My only bike, done for now.

New chain, chainset, BB, bars, saddle & pedals.

  • Thought I should share 2 of my most recent builds.

First is my day to day run about, Borghini Pista. (Anyone with any more information in these frames I'd be interested to hear)

Second is the Harry Quinn which saw its first outing on the Tweed Run, toight loike a toiger!

  • That's a nice Quinn

  • fnar fnar (sorry in a funny mood)

  • tasteful quinn, the veloflex's finish it off nicely

  • The Quinn is lovely!

This is my Kingston carrying some extra weight in its touring setup. I haven't decided what to do with it next (obviously I'm not riding it like this every day) but it might get gears- though I would probably spring the stays to 130mm to take a modern wheelset, so it would be a one-way trip so to speak.

Edit 2: What is up with the photo; it keeps disappearing...

  • whats the rear rack?

  • whats the rear rack?

I'm not sure, it's something I borrowed off a friend. He mentioned it being for MTB use, and something about attaching to disc mounts, but that can't be right as it makes no sense. I'll go check.

(It's a Topeak Super Tourist DX Disc- one of these: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?PartnerID=79&ModelID=32816

    Nice and solid, no complaints).

    ta.
it looks like it'll fit the rear of my bike, and i wants to go touring.

I think it just gives more clearance than this: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=32817

Either way, it was pretty solid. I wouldn't recommend carrying that much weight though, if you're riding fixed and on hills- it wasn't a smart idea, though manageable for a few days.

  • Just starting my first project, here are some pics of the frame prepared for paint. Can't decide what colour to go for yet or whether to paint it my self/get it powder coated.

Anyone any Idea what frame this is, i'd be interested to know some sort of history behind it or a model etc, got it from my dad and he hasn't a clue either.

Completly new to fixed wheels so trying to get to grips with what would look good but really looking forward to getting stuck in. Not sure how this frame will turn out but hey.

Also i was wondering if both sides come out of this type of BB as one side removed but didn't want to force the other, if they do then i'll get the remaining side in a vice.

Brothers Roadie, he like you can't find any info. Fantastic ride.

  • @Chris Barr
Yes, the drive side cup will come out, bear in mind that it's a left hand thread.

the frame looks quite good quality, you might want to consider not cutting off the derailleur cable guide and other braze ons, as the resale value will be higher if you decide to sell it on later.
