    • its pretty frickin bad ass, i can imagine its a nightmare to ride tho!
  • sadly my yellow colnago needs a new toptube and downtube, my frontwheel is touching the downtube which caused me to go over the bars and smashed my face on the ground, my face is almost healed but the bike is still broken. I mailed Columbus to see if they still have some ESAMEXICO tubing, but no answer yet. I am going to hang it on the wall or maybe replace the tubes with master tubing or something i dont know yet. That was my favourite bike :(

  • Sounds like a shit set of circumstances. How did the wheel end up touching the DT in the first place? Tight clearances and some flex?

  • sadly my yellow colnago needs a new toptube and downtube...go over the bars...was my favourite bike :(

that was my favorite bike too! man, i hope you're getting better!..

  • sadly my yellow colnago needs a new toptube and downtube,(

Here maybe, just give it a try: http://www.reset-racing.de/

  • Ha ha, how old are you and your son? I just have this image of a middle aged man and 20 year old cruising around on a tandem BMX. :) Im sure this isn't actually the case!

Ha ha same as that. We need pics.

its an S&M, it'll be custom

What like custom made by S&M? I may be wrong but I can't imagine S&M would be producing novelty bikes like that. My guess is two Dirt Bikes welded together. Bit of a waste IMO unless there are pics of it being ridden by a middle aged man and his 20yr old son in which case priceless!

  • henry's old geekhouse, now mine... perhaps will not be a popular move but had it stripped and sandblasted with a clearcoat at armourtex, now the bare steel is on show.

plan is to put a set of ambrosio excellence to goldtec hub wheels on... I think shallow / box rims will look nice with the quill stem & thin bars. At first was considering h+son but now I think it would look a bit weird... any thoughts?

will put up some proper pics when i'm done!

  • Love it. Goldtecs would be a mistake though. I would go with royce's on ceramic / grey open pro's for maximum stealth.

  • Nothing wrong with that. Nice build and you did the frame justice.

But Royce stuff costs at least a billion pounds.

  • out of interest how much was the strip and clearcoat? I have a frame waiting to be done, but not sure i can afford it at the moment.

looking ace anyway, it seems only fitting to do something different to the geek, it would seem wrong for someone OTHER than Henry to have the ludicrous tartan thing going on.

  • and get that stem down.

ok nearly double the price but not that expesnsive at £130 - so much nicer than phil woods

  • They'd be nice on Excellence!

[/smug cos I'm building that exact wheelset at the moment]

Not that expensive!!!! £268 on hubs alone is ridiculous.

  • skully +1 - my ideal wheelset too.

Geekhouse frames are around a grand new including shipping - horses for courses

    I rounded up.

i hear if you buy two having got one stolen and pay the original price and have a friend carry them back from the states for you, they're a pretty decent price :)

I'm thinking about summering up the only still badged Geekhouse in London- higher GI and thinner tyres.
either that or I won't bother as its hilariously spinny at the minute.

also my current project of learning arabic is killing my already poor english speaking ability.

Also in Summer- when back from Arabia- I'm going to have a fire sale of most of my bikes.
Just hinting is all, at the moment I'm enjoying building things.

  • thanks for the nice comments :)

@ bmxconan - yeah i'd love to build up royce hubs, i can almost justify it to myself but then outspoken cycles do a nice wheelset of excellence + goldtec for the same price as the royce hubset so uhmm ahhh uhmm ahh... only 10£ more than if I were to build them up myself as well...

as for the geekhouse, I was about to order one last year but yes 1000£ was a bit steep at the time, so when Henry was selling his I jumped at the chance to own one of these! And I have to say it really really is worth it... even the sound the steel makes from the road / wind is beautiful.

@velo libre: yeah, you're right of course... the stem is a technomatic deluxe (looks identical to the 20£ more expensive pearl) that I chopped down, just not enough. Dunno when I can get time to do another amputation.

@mrlemon: It costs 45£ for blasting & clearcoat @ armourtex. you can choose between a matte lacquer or shiny lacquer, I chose matte.

think the overall feeling is to go box rim / shallow rim, thanks for the input!

  • Looking good, Christoph!

  • heh, henry

it looks well spinny! I have an extra white industries chainring you can have if you want. have a 42 & 44, havent decided which to use on the +1 bike yet :P

btw, we passed each other at holborn the other day right? It went by quickly and I was dreaming about something but I'd recognise that beard & bike from miles away

    @ wools - thanks!

  • yep I was in a bit of a hurry that day other wise I'd have stopped and chatted- I like a good long chat.
I'm so happy you're loving the bike- you look like it fits you perfect.

  • yeah, next time :)

and indeed... very very happy. As you can see I took your advice on bullhorns, it really is good on the lower back.
