I handed this over to my friend at the weekend. It's a 1981 Carlton Courette. The respray was by Mario Vaz. The final recipient was well pleased with it.
Nice ... Where did you get the leather grips?

'Long distance' bike, edscoble? With a mahoosive front rack like that?
Hah, the front rack is just a bonus since it came from the missus' old bike, will get a proper rear rack soon, but the front one make it so much easier on a day-to-day basis, just drop your shopping on it, wrap the core round it and off you pop.

Those bars are really short in the palm area. You'll struggle to fit the levers and your hand on that bit.

my rebuild of the Kona is good for the time being, but I really want a heavier duty front and rear rack.
Plus I need to sort out the box for the rear- I'm just busy atm. -

Thanks!
The grips are Dimension stitched honey leather from FreshTripe http://www.freshtripe.co.uk/Freshtripe/Grips%20%26%20Tapes.html
It was a bit of nuisance fitting them and the brakes onto the bars. The palm area of the bars is quite short, so there wasn't much room to get them both on. And because the brakes now sit on the angled section of the bars it was difficult to get the levers into a position my friend's hands could reach. The photos are from before we fitted it properly though. We made some adjustments and got to something workable that she was happy with in the end.

You would be quite correct in your assumption Benjamin. This is photographic evidence of the bicycle's condition on the very day I purchased her.

He likes the way you smell.
