...with the same multitude of lemming peds darting across the road

Ah but I cycle home in the middle of the night.
it's bliss compare to what it was before, plus peds and traffic isn't a problem once you cycle at a certain speed being always prepared to brakes as well as maintaining a good road position.

This is my first post so please be kind.
I bought this 1970's Viscount Aerospace Pro for £50 which appears to be almost intact in terms of original components:
- viscount cast aluminium 'death fork'
- shimano crane rear derailleur and matching shifters and front derailleur
- lambert and viscount chainset
- weinmann brake calipers and levers
my plan was to build my first fixed gear bike using the frame and sell some of the original components to help fund the project. i have just been to a local shop to find out about a replacement fork as I don't want to experience the death part of the fork and they reckon (due to some issues with the BB and 27" wheels, etc) I would be better off cleaning up the components and selling the bike on in its original configuration then use the money to buy a more standard 531 frame fro my fixed gear project.
I wonder if I could get some feedback from anyone about my options as I was pretty into converting this frame but perhaps not if it is going to be a really difficult job as my first project.
Cheers
Rich

Ready for spring! New super-ugly, super-comfy (at least on the drops) bars and stem, wheels, pedals and seatpost. Just need to regrease the headset this afternoon and everything will be nice and smooth.

i like the bars, like the whole bike sans the saddle

What bars are they?

Charge Bowl.
Might jump to 44T when that chainring needs replacing. Not gonna bother now, not as if it makes much difference.

Lovely. What are the other parts you've planned for it?

A fork which matches the frame, presumably ;-)

right need some advice / words of discouragement, my (bicycley challenged) friend is considering buying that £95 visp joby of teabay to build up as a ss, rather than buy something along the lines of an SE Draft or a 2nd hand charge or similar, can anyone say something that i can send to him to talk him out of it please?
Why don't you offer to help him build it.
@ the rest of you - Shame on you. -

Back to bullhorns on my SloPro... :) And with COOL bartape..
Oh, and the gearing is like 44/15 or something like that... starting and stopping causes permanent knee damage. (actually I still feel riding it 5 days ago in my left knee)

a break might help

Fuck brakes..

Also, you will notice that the front rim don't accept a brake.. It is anti-snakebite though.. I can verify that, having never been bitten by a snake riding the bike.

Don't get too excited, its still a diesel fugged gridlocked hell hole, just less bumpy now.
