  • Obligatory Oooof!

  • repped +1

  • stem drop riser bar fail, i know, but it's what i'm working with and not shelling out anytime soon.

    i also don't have a camera.

    final iteration:

    here's a current project for a friend:

was just a mixte Raleigh frame, and i picked up an old Schwinn swapped all the parts over, change the bars, single speed dished the wheel for proper 42mm chainline... gonna be single speed. not fixed. 4130 butted main tubes. nice ride. total cost about 100 USD.

I do this kind of thing about once a week.

  • another time my finished project but now with the driving side on the front

  • This frame is lush!

Nice cranks. The chain had to be gold.

  • steelarts - nice bike but what is going on with your set back? It looks very odd...

  • Tyres + Valves. Sort 'em.

    Huh...What?

  • @kam, its just an old one from another bike i had. bike from the 80s i think hehe

  • Huh...What?

somehow it's a 'tradition' to line the tyres logos with the inner tube valve, although it's pretty useful if you have a puncture and need to find out where on the tyres it occur.

how long does it normally take you to find the valve with tyres that have no logos?

its simply to keep it a bit more clean.

  • Roberts rebuilt. New wheels, saddle, tape and drivetrain. Woop!

I think Ed means so that you know where to inspect on the tyre so that you can remove the offending item. It usually helps me to find the stone/glass or whatever in the tyre.

  • I love that Waterford. Can I have it please?

  • ... and i picked up an old Schwinn [/QUOTE]

    what about the schwinn frame?

    (give it to me)

  • it's a mid 80s girls bike. not even a mixte. will be used, but nothing special. and i live in the states.

    thanks wools.

    aaaahhh, i see

indeedio. I forgot about that, yeah thats pretty useful

  • complete. rides like a fucking dream.

  • Nice^

I'm sure your friend will love it, looks like a well used/loved bike.

  • +1
    sweet build jersey

  • I've just finished my first fixed build - I've been riding on mismatched beater for 6 months or so, but this is the first bike I'm reasonably satisfied to call finished.

    Pictures here

    The spec is:
Mike Mullet road frame - purchased from Hilarystone (front fork not original)
On one hubs laced to Open Pro rims
Surly 14t rear sprocket with Surly lockring
    Unknown vintage cranks
    Shimano sealed cartridge bb
    Campagnolo headset
    knackered old custom stem
    knackered old road bars
    knackered old seatpost

Saddle - Anyone got any idea what this is? My mate found it in a skip in Bristol an I payed him a fiver for it. Don't think it's a Brooks but it's lovely, rode a 1k mile trip over summer on it and it felt great.

As you might be able to tell, I ran out of money half way through, the upshot of it is that it cost me relatively little - about £180 in total.

How much would you estimate it to be worth as a complete bike?

  • Current projects, and be quick.
