  • I wouldn't pay that much for an outdoor chain either. It will have a Wippermann 1Z1 for road use.

Another new thing to learn; those gold KMCs are Titanium Nitride coated, not Nitrate.

  • I think ed already knocked that one on the head....

Make sense, I never pay that much for a chain that I use on the street, with the exception of that Ti-nitride one from KMC.

learn something new everyday at least!

  • I think ed already knocked that one on the head....

I think Ed edited the post after MDCC posted. If you edit within a minute or two of posting, it doesn't show.

  • who says I edit my post? what utter nonsense!

  • We do know...

  • I remember seeing Nitrate.

  • I've not seen that kind of DIY on a chain before, I suppose it make sense once you have the correct sized bolt.

it it a screw that has stopped threads (tighten it down), and then on the other side you place an additional lock nut.

  • the koga looks too small for the rider. stem is very long, very risen, and the seat is too high.

  • Most modern track bikes are set up in a similar config I believe.

  • You must be the only person who actually going to use this bike for time trial/track, all the koga I've seen were ridden by people wearing jean up and down the hipster spice route.

    What, people like you?

  • This will be on its way to me soon.

Although I will be keeping the current wheels, they are tubs, and I have just bought another clincher set (Record low-flange hubs - Mavic rims) which will probably spend more time on the bike than the tubs.
Really looking forward to getting it, cheers Tel.

  • Indeed we do

  • another long term forum member on geared bike, how long before the forum becomes London geared and multi speed? (not criticising, plenty geared rides for me too)

tha don look small to me.

  • you mean like Tommy De Vito?

  • Didn't they have your size in stock??

Ha! I was thinking exactly that as I caught up on this thread.

Ol' mdcc_tester spouts out all sorts of authoritarian shit, like he's the arbiter of taste and style and fit, yet he rides that setup. Ha! And again, ha!

  • Theres a vid here, showing the gear change at 38 secs....YouTube- A beautiful bike, a country lane, and sunshine...

    That lane looks familiar.....?

  • I'm sure mdcc_tester is Eds slightly more 'knowledgable' yet not quite as tedious older brother?

  • That lane looks familiar.....?

Moor Lane heading east towards Naburn, south of York.

    was thinking the same too;

  • Makes them lighter doesn't it ?

  • Yeah but tester's is just simply too small for him

  • Didn't they have your size in stock??

zero set-back seatpost, and the effective length of the stem dont look too long either.

Dont know much about the geometry of that frame, but it looks like the right size to me.

  • thats just how modern track bikes are set up. smaller frame = stiffer. the upward rise on the stem is stiffer (possibly more responsive steering) than a flat one with a bunch of spacers in there. also Mdcc is clearly a tallish person which exaggerates the appearance.

obviously a smaller frame is lighter, but theres a limit to how light you can go anyway, and im sure this is right on the limit already so its not small to save weight.
