Nice, just a shame about the hubs

Double gum tyres, white bare tape, black saddle and blue straps!?
Its such a lovely bike, I think it deserves some consistency of trimmings colour. -
• #25204
^ didn't you once have a neon pink frame with a lumi yellow rattlecanned Spinergy?!
-
• #25205
Touché!
It's important to note that since Harry has been working in Brick Lane's famous 'BLB' he's become a bit of an authority... ;)

and I think the Carlton looks great going to keep the Atlantas and use some Record Hight flange hubs instead of the Miche.
surely shallow section rims on classic bikes, no?
then you can sell those atlantas to me :)

KC I think you may finally have found your style, thank God!
However, I am a bit worried about the economic stimulus to the bike industry ending, will we all have to pay more for parts now?
This has been the bike I always keep looking at and wanted to have something like.

You must be the only person who actually going to use this bike for time trial/track, all the koga I've seen were ridden by people wearing jean up and down the hipster spice route.
-
• #25216
I love that UT conversion. Gonna try it out one day. I assume it gives a standard track chainline?
-
• #25217
I've seen one other Koga at Calshot, usually it's 90% Dolans even ignoring the hire bikes.

• #25218
are you going to tell us what's the story with one of the chain being screwed together with a bolt?

are you going to tell us what's the story with one of the chain being screwed together with a bolt?
Its the norm among NJS chains. looks like a silver njs vertex chain or a did pro.

are you going to tell us what's the story with one of the chain being screwed together with a bolt?
It's essentially a split link. Izumi Super Toughness chains have a similar thing.
-
• #25221
I've not seen that kind of DIY on a chain before, I suppose it make sense once you have the correct sized bolt.
-
• #25222
It's not DIY, it's the standard screwed master link. That one is a DID, but other NJS chains are similar.
@Pifko: The chainline is 46.5mm, which matches the Mavic Ellipse hub with an EAI sprocket and a 0.4mm shim under the sprocket. More pix on my blog http://jorj.co.uk/pivot/entry.php?id=28
The back of the crank wouldn't need machining if you used a chainring the same thickness as the stock one (or rebated the Goldtec one at the other 4 bolts), and that would move the chainline down to 46.0 -
• #25223
its not a DIY ed.
it comes like that.mdcc_tester.....grrrrrrrrr

Silly cucumber

Make sense, I never pay that much for a chain that I use on the street, with the exception of that Ti-nitride one from KMC.
learn something new everyday at least!
