Mr S: Awsome. Get a Joplin seatpost! Everybike with tyres bigger than 1.5 needs one. Its true.

it's fake cow pattern it looks ace!
it was comfortable on my ss with it's longer stretched out position but sitting more upright on the giant is a pain in the sitbones.I hate the shape to be honest, the animal fur thing is pretty cool though. Very MTB.

having shed a kilo by swapping the hope bulb/xc/xm321's michelin AM's for the stans tubeless i'll not be adding any more weight with a telescopic post.

These are some bikes I picked up. I kinda got a bit excited about being paid.
These are some hubs- I like to think of them as an assorted box of chocolates for bike geeks.
This is the wine box post lacquer and woodstain stage. Off to hardware store tmw to sort out fittings etc- Extra Duty Zip Ties or something else...i heart sneak shots.

at TomBurtonArt- I don't need any bikes...
I may be persuaded to sell the Basso...
Though it would take some persuasion.
The seatpost that accompanies it is on the floor in one of those shots.
I love being paid to do a very easy 2 weeks work. -

*anger building...
fury rising...
jealousy overbearing...
emotion residing...
energy dwindling...*
yeah, nice.

non original forks though on the Basso. which is a shame.
But I'm very fucking lucky in that I live at home so my pay goes straight to my pocket. which then gets spent on bikes. to fuel my obsession of building things
I should have stuck to Lego. Stupid.
Oh and even luckier with the 2 week 'job' that landed on my lap courtesy of a friend who has a real job.i do pay 'rent' but its not rent. like i said. i'm lucky (occasionally)

The only thing that would make that basemant any more perfect would be to put the 'art of storage' rack up for those sweet frames and to have a fully equipped workbench nestled nicely up the end there under the boilers...........

i can dream. two bikes don't fit above each other- i can't even stand up properly and i'm not tall exactly.
and its not my basement- i'm just filling it with shit whilst i find somewhere proper to live. (and get a job to pay for it- though now i'm clearly moving to nottingham so maybe a garage instead)
i am however installing a fair few nice shelves so that my shit is off the floor and getting one of those pointy out multiple bike racks so that i can at least save some space for the DIY me and my dad get up to when bored. -

I'm going to build (another!) frame! I want it to be really understated, and average to look at, but put real attention into the details. Going to keep everything really simple though, especially the lugs, which I plan on making myself this time (tig welding them, then smoothing over the welds with a fillet braze).
Please excuse the photos of shit sketches, they were just to get an idea of what the angles will look like with the geo I'm planing on using. I will get on solidworks later and make a proper model.
I have some ideas for some really nice details, like the dropouts, the rear bridge (secret for now), and making some twinplate, straight blade forks with a cutaway in the lower plate for tyre clearance.
Want to keep the frame and forks raw and clearcoated when I'm done too, and build it up with some nice, shiny black bits!

Who's welding it for ya? Or are going to do it yourself?

I'm doing the brazing myself, and I've got an engineer friend who I'll get to do the tig welding. I've done a fair bit of brazing and arc welding before, including a fillet brazed trials bike frame, among other things. Done some brazed lugs too, which I haven't had any problems with.
Hopefully my metal work should be upto scratch. -

I remember your college project. Fillet brazing - now, this sounds interesting.
