more of Robin Mathers current project - the frame he is building for himself
first pic he has tacked on the tubes with 3 spot welds
2nd and 3rd pics show the fusion welds
4th and 5th show the final welds with filler applied
the weld sites are very shiny after the work has been done, that will be dulled down when the frame is shot peened.
not sure he is so keen on my father waiting for the new child analogy, it my be that i refer to him as my mid wife or paediatricianHe definitely knows how to weld, very talented guy.

Thinking about this frame set (forget about the parts) for a future project.
Love the Bottecchia from late 1970's (SCIC, Saronni, Schuiten). Not sure if this frame is good quality (Col. SL) or a cheaper model.
I know that Carnelli / Bottecchia made a lot of garbage, too.Anyone here with a good idea / advice ?
The seller doensn't seen to know a lot. That's a pity, but could also be a reason for a bargain.
There is a Columbus decal, but doesn't mention a type.
No D/T decal.
Full chrome front forks , rear stays; no chrome lugs
Bottecchia decals on H/T, no logo or weapon
Cable stopper on top of Chain stay, so could be before 1980.Unfortunately too far away to visit the seller. A bit of a gamble.
Thanks for any help / advice.

You love those black chainring bolts don't you!? Fair point.
Yep, black chainring needs black bolts
One also needs black nipples if using black rims, spokes and hubs

finally got this back on the road (trail)
new bolt through forks, slx brakes, hope straight pulls with stans flow tubeless wheels and non UST rubber queens with yellow tape and jizz (no rimstrips but sidewalls are porous so need a top up mid ride) -

Dolan just needs a couple of tweeks not 100% on saddle though.

Nice! I think you should use a stem with either negative rise or no rise at all, though[t]. That is an extremely upright position. Also you could probably flip the Thomson you got on there now upside down, bringing the bars lower so increasing your reach... therefore not needing them to be tilted forward so much.
Hope that makes sense. Enjoy it, looks like a solid bike.
Needs a black chain, chainring bolts and nipples, double straps imo
Yep. Some nice suedey looking double straps, those NJS ones I guess.
Although I think a black chain would look shit. It needs a gold one with inner links, like that Izumi Super Toughness one.
KC, that saddle looks jarg on that bike. Reissue black Turbo maybe?
This!!

but aesthetically an SLR would finish it off for me.no it wouldn't, changed my mind. -

@kc - it needs a modern saddle. Get an Arione for it. Your gooch'll love you for it.

• #25171
Arione FTW... I'm using one on my Cannondale at the moment and really really loving it.

Mr.S that is amazing.
v. v. nice.
KC good work.
Whosever Neil Orrell that is is a lucky man.
I like Shrink Wrap bikes.
Maxcrowe's opinion is altered as his nerves have not got the required polarization capacity to reach the distances required. -

I am currently assembling an EU Arione mountain.

it's actually a very 'normal' boring bike.
it's a Giant made in taiwan so no niche bling from the usa or europe, parts are all mid range reliable but not heavy parts (xt/xtr/slx/hone mix) thomson/hope/stans.
it rides really well though and don't feel the need to change anything apart from saddle which is a cowhide sdg bel-air and is very uncomfortable. -

That's what I like about it. Fancy isn't really my thing, personally.

Those are fucking nasty. A guy at my work has one on his Iron Horse and apart from looking shit it is one of the worst saddles I've ever sat on.
No your not just a cheap set of Zoom risers with charge track grips,I have a set of carbon risers I may use instead.
