back on the road.
In time for the Tweed, for which I was too late!
God this is nice, Im very envious. Not 100% on the white tyres but thats nitpicking. This is kind of what id like my mercian path racer to look like. Lovely stuff Borntoolate

Sorethroat; I know what you mean about the tyres. These are old ones, not Schwalbes, and have a ribbed tread. I think the 'cream tyre revival' has kinda spoilt it for folks with vintage bikes running on authentic creamies. Looking at early photos of the time, this was the normal colour for a sporting tyre.
I blame the Guv'nor! Although we do have 5 bikes in our house, on cream tyres now - all old ones.
Ive just varnished the grips, so they are less bright, and im fitting genuine period 'flint catchers', and a pair of little top-tube bags for day rides.
Of course, it's pissing down today! -

A couple of folks have asked, so here's my Claud Butler with Sachs Duomatic 2-speed cable-less kickback hub.

@dutch cheese: shellac like so, looks very good indeed. guessing someone will have tha stuff for sale there tomorrow?Dunno.
I bought it in a shop for painters, artists, etc. Not that cheap, but I needed just a bit, could take it rightaway and didn't have to pay for postage.
More dealer addresses: http://www.verfmolendekat.com/nl/verkoopadressen/verkoopadressen.html so Tilburg / Eindhoven should be no problem.
Cheap online: http://www.politoeren.com/contents/nl/d33_schellak_politoer_politoeren_politoervernis.htmlThe denatured ethanol you can order at a local pharmacy. Ask for a 1l bottle. Will cost you approx 10.- Euro.
But the total application process takes a week at least. Perhaps several weeks. Let it cure a while before riding it. Count a month for the whole process before riding.
But it's only a bike to show off, right ? ;-)BTW: I would go for plain white tape.

Scorch; Well since the bike's nickname is 'Scorcher', I'll let you have a go if you introduce yourself if you see me at a 'beers' or somewhere.
Cheers man! I am in Ukraine :)

Needs a black chain, chainring bolts and nipples, double straps imo

Though my mind boggles at the pointlessness of building so many bikes in such a short space of time, I have to hand it to you Kingcutter... Some of your earlier 'build projects' were absolute dogs and famously so, but the latest ones have been really very nice indeed. A satisfying learning curve to observe.
Have pictures of the finished Carlton been posted yet? That's a lovely one.
