2 lovely bikes there

Ah I'm a norhterner mate - nowhere seems to actually have any up here yet - Evans' wont fetch me one to try unless I put a deposit down (?!)
We've just been chatting about it actually and a 'Haul' would probably be better - rear racks are much more manageable when heavy loaded. Won't be for a while anyhoo (I've got new bikes to buy for me first!!)
If you don't want the bike you can have your deposit back you know?

so what's the point in taking the deposit in the first place anyway?

guessing it ensures the customer is at least partly serious

You're in Manchester aren't you? there should be some shop similar to the like of Brixton Cycles that may stock them.

Yeah Ed, I might give Bicycle Doctor a ring. A few shops (edinburgh Co-op, Evans') stock thm online but not instore. I'll try Harry Hall too as theycarry specialized (same make so same distro I presume?)
Cheers

Really? I was under the impression that your deposit stayed with Evans' but you could put it on another bike. Anyhoo fuck that, if they want me to spend my money there they should be doing the extra - not treating me like they're doing me a favour.

This is so much towaddle I can't be bothered to even start.
I think the only bit that makes sense is
'there is no point on having such an expensive chain'
(Although it is grammatically incorrect, obviously)
I'm not rubbishing the Centaur at all. Its fine. But why go for such an expensive everything else in the drive train and skimp on the BB. Its abit like buying a full Record Groupset, and then having an Athena Rear Mech. Its not, not going to work. But you may as well go for the whole set.
Plus I think the Phil BB is nicer, and makes a more noticeable difference then the hub. That is to say I'd rather have Phil BB and Formula hubs (which I have on one bike) then Phil hubs and a UN54 or Campy equivalent. You may agree with me on that. I've just found it makes the most noticeable difference. Even thought the hubs seem to last longer.
it's side if there is even a small amount of weight on the rack, so I upgraded it to a double legs kickstand for extra stability, much easier when loading bricks for instance.
The
Fucking awsome!
Are pedals not mega slippy in this god damned awful and shitty weather?Nothing wrong with Campag Centaur, it's a bottom bracket, not some object of desire! ignore Harry, he just want to sell you some Polish frame.
good bike thought, look like you got yourself a great deal.
Ed, because I disagree with you on one or two issues on the same day you now rubbish me whenever I say something? Why?
And yeah, I work in a bike shop, I sell stuff. Doesn't mean I totaly share everything they say. And for the record we sell BJs and Orlowski frames. i happen to prefer one. Crime?
Joelsain: I couldn't find your post again so you don't get a quote (sorry) but I yeah I get trade on Phil stuff, but the first one I bought was full mother fucking price! I just REALLY REALLY like Phil BBs. More then the hubs. Its my favourite component ever. Its nice. So there :P

The KHS is a recent addition, and I'm really happy with the Nitto bullhorns - so many different hand positions. Not so happy with the saddle, which my balls have asked me to swap.
And Harry has a new bar/stem/brake combo. Can't wait for spring.
That canal pictured with the (lovely) KHS looks like the stretch at Kapelle (just north of Brussels). It's not is it?

The New Pompino just waiting for me to find my BB tool, straddle wires and flip that stem the right way up. Proper photies when my camera is back from repairs.

Fucking awsome!
Are pedals not mega slippy in this god damned awful and shitty weather?Oh it's alright, it's not exactly a bicycle that you'll cane it at every opportunity like our fixed wheel bicycles, the grip is lackluster to says the least but not a problem for riding.
Ed, because I disagree with you on one or two issues on the same day you now rubbish me whenever I say something? Why?
tongue in cheek mate, especially the 'polish' frame!
I only happen to disagree with you somehow more regularly for some reason, as for the BB, the way I see it, the Centaur BB is a top quality product, they're cheap because it's a normal price, as an example, The Campag Record BB is a lots cheaper than the Phil Wood one (£75).
It's the Phils BB (despite being a fantastic piece of component) that are more expensive than the norms.

Okay. Kewl.
Utility bikes rock. Sit up and beg rack toating mother fuckers are whats it s all about. Double kick stand just made my day!
Phil isn't made in Taiwan. Hence the much higher price.

Nope, it's the Amsterdam-Rijnkanaal. Then again, there's quite a few that look similar around these parts!

You are a strange fruit Harry! you get all excited by the most mundane component!
-
• #20392
Phil BBs are sexytime, I wish I'd plumped for one.
-
• #20393
Yeah. I know.
And I got to touch an 18 carrot gold plated pantographed Dura Ace groupset built for the King of Arabia today. The kickstand is boss though. -

Harry that sounds ghastly in the extreme... was it *very *ostentatious?

No not at all, it was fucking beautiful. It was done with real finesse. Not every single bit was gold, and on the rear mech it was just the bolts and stuff. Then on the cranks it was the whole crank minus the ring. It was realy kewl. The gold brake cable was nice. It was made by Shimano, rather than just plating dura ace group set.

So kinda classy, rather than looking like a cheap hackney slag? any pics? im intrigued (even though i usually run a mile at the thought of gold on anything)
